University of South Alabama online program

I have a friend at work who had nothing but good things to say about this program. He is in his 4th semester, of 7 for the fnp track. I just applied yesterday because I'm ready to take the plunge! I won't start until Summer 2010 if I'm accepted. Anyone heard anything about this program, good/bad? Thank you!

I have heard good things also which is why I applied for Fall 2010 FNP/MSN. Long time to wait though since decisions wont be made for a while. Do a search of USA here and you will find some threads. Good luck to us both

I'm in my 4th semester of FNP with USA. What is the name of your friend? cuz he is my classmate. Be prepared to do nothing else but read... and I mean READ. 2000+ pages per 30-40 questions tests, which are almost every week. The program is very stressful, especially if you work.

His name is Eric. He said the same thing, that you read so much you feel like you can't possibly retain it all. I plan on only working 2-3 days a week during the program.

You can work the first 3 semesters, but on the 4th, many people stopped working. I am PT and I wish I didn't have to work. They call the 4th semester the "weeding out" period. And you can't retain it all, unless you have a photographic memory...

Any advice how you studied? How have you organized yourself to stay ahead and on top of it all? Would love to hear any tips you got on how to study and or organize to make it through the program.

Thanks,
peaceful

Not sure my strategy is working cuz I'll probably get my first "C" this semester, and I've never had this much to read before.... Oh and be prepared to put out about 1G for books ( 13+), and that is just this semester.

Ditto what shortlittlern said working even part time is beginning to take it's toll! With the reading and tests every week it has been exhausting and thats with only 60 clinical hours for this semester (4th semester FNP)! I can not imagine working with all of this and 180 hours of clinicals!!! If at all possible, I would recommend not working! Our instructor at our meet and greet said "You are setting yourself up for failure if you plan on continuing to work while enrolled in the program." Yikes! Overall I think the program is disorganized and I would prefer an in class setting but very few FNP programs do that anymore...Good luck!

I've also been looking at USA. Not sure if I'm willing to devote my MSN to an on-line school though.
