University of South Alabama Nurse Practitioner Summer 2013 Admission

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Bear with me as I'm new to allnurses.com. I applied for the Summer 2013 admission to USA's MSN - FNP program. I'm anxiously awaiting an admission decision. Has anyone else heard anything yet?

I'm not overly confident that I'll get in. Here are my stats: 3.53 overall GPA (higher for just nursing courses), 1.5 years of LPN experience on CCU, 5 years experience as RN (CICU, Ambulatory Care, Management), board certs in Med-Surg and Ambulatory care, and currently serving as an Active Duty RN in the military.

Hi everyone! Any news on acceptance letters? I also applied for Spring 2014. I have been so far rejected by 2 schools already. My GPA is 3.4. I finished with a BSN and have just gotten a MSN in leadership and management degree but I haven't taken the GRE. I've got 2 years of RN experience. I feel like I am not doing things right because I only get pass interviews but not to the point of getting accepted. I need to see a glimmer of hope. USA is my first choice.

Anyone heard anything I applied for the Spring 2014 NP also.

I haven't heard anything yet, neither has anyone I know that has applied for spring 2014. Hopefully today....or tomorrow....or the next....

Not a word... I don't even know if my application was complete?!?!?!

The application was two part. The nursingcas application can be confirmed from nursingcas website as complete as LNG as it was complete in time. The supplemental application should have been confirmed as received and complete via email from USA. I received mine a week or so after the deadline. Did you receive one or heck nursing CAS?

I do see a complete from nursingcas but I have received NOTHING from USA

Hmmmm...That is very odd. I filled out both apps and sent them both in well before August 1. I stalked CAS until all my transcripts had arrived. Now I'm wondering if USA even has my application! I will be very angry if they don't because this was by far my most expensive application!

I would check spam folders for the email account you listed on the application to see if it might be there. Then I would contact them if you did not receive one just to make sure they had it. Hopefully you will just get letter in the mail to confirm everything in the next couple of days,

Subject: USA College of Nursing - Spring 2014 MSN Supplemental Application

Dear Prospective Spring 2014 Student:

Re: Receipt of Supplemental Application - Spring 2014 Admission USA College of Nursing Graduate Studies

This e-mail serves to notify you that we have received your Spring 2014 MSN Supplemental Application and it is complete. This is part two of the application process.

The first part of the application process is the Primary Application, which is completed through NursingCAS. Applicants are responsible for ensuring that NursingCAS receives all transcripts, application fee, and completed application by the deadline for the semester for which they are applying. It is the responsibility of each applicant to monitor the status of his or her NursingCAS Primary Application and to address any issues which may arise. To know if the NursingCAS application is complete, log into your NursingCAS account and see if a GPA calculation has been posted, this means that your application has been verified. If you do not see a GPA calculation, please contact NursingCAS to see if they require any additional information from you. NursingCAS forwards your completed application to South Alabama, when the application is verified. You will not receive an additional email from South Alabama, when NursingCAS has completed the verification process.

The admission committee does not meet to review applications until after the application deadline. We will send an admission status letters to all completed applicants 6 - 8 weeks after the application deadline, through the US postal service.

Thank you

*****I omitted the name and email address of the sender, but this was the email I received on August 19th. I wonder why they told you they don't send a confirmation email? Did they confirm they received your application at least?

Hmmmm...thanks for posting that! I'm going to double check my inbox for it. I could tell the lady that answered the phone was not very informed regarding the process.

I have yet to get a response back from the email she requested I send. What was odd was when I initially called the graduate school, not the nursing school, the lady was more than willing to check on the status of my app. Unfortunately they are separate from the school of nursing. So, checking the status of apps is clearly something they do as an institution.
