Anyone applied to and/or have heard from the University of South Alabama Psych NP for Masters or BSN-DNP online for Spring 2012?

Anyone with experience with this program and would like to share info, network, etc. Please respond. Thank you

So you don't get to review any exams after? There is no feedback or way to find what you got wrong, so you can be sure to learn the correct info?

No, you do not get to review your individual exams. They do an exam review in some classes, they send a list of topics that students have missed on the exams. If more than 3 students miss a question it goes on the list for review. Some classes have no review, like policy had no review of the final and roles had no review of the final. They were open book though, so I doubt many students got that many wrong. I did not take patho, pharm or theory at USA, I transferred those in. So maybe those are some of the classes with no review at all.

It does seem to be a big pet-peeve of students. Now I attended an FNP program at another school that had the same policy, they never even did an exam review. So I don't know how common it is. It is probably why it doesn't bother me, I have never been at a school that did allow students to review exams.

I'll have to check into the other schools I'm looking at and see if the do. Now that I think about it, I don't think they did reviews in all my ADN classes either.

Hey all! I'm accepted into the Spring 2013 group for Psych NP as well! I was very excited but after reading the comments in here, now I am less so. I also looked at the curriculum for Spring and the part time schedule looks more full than the full time schedule! I work full time and will need to throughout the program so that makes me nervous! But none the less, I'm ready to get started!

Hello everyone. Question for those in the program: would you choose the 3 year or 4 year plan? I am having a hard time deciding and am looking at the pros and cons of each. Thanks.

I have had a great experience at USA so far. I am in the emergency track. I have been lucky this semester and have two really great instructors. They are both prompt in responding to emails. Yes, some of the classes have "busy" work, but I feel like I have grown as a writer. Writing is a weakness of mine, and I feel like the exercises have helped. I am by far not the best, but feel my writing skills have improved some. I really would recommend this program. I choose the four year track because I work as well. Next semester, I am taking three classes so I hope I continue to do well. I am very pleased with the college and staff. I really hope I do not get disappointed in the future.

Hi!!!..I currently live in Texas-not friendly to NPs (prescriptive authority) but hopefully things will change soon. I am in the process of applying to USA BSN-MSN Psych NP program for summer/fall 2013 and I know that they do allow up to 12 credits for transfer. I have a few questions if anyone can help.

2) Has anyone taken or enrolled in online grad Patho, Pharm, or N. Assessment at any of these schools who can recommend the best school to do these prerequisites?

Liberty University, Weber State, Uni of Neb, UMAss, Uni of Colorado, Indian state, Samuel Merritt.

Thanks!!!......

Interested in the psych NP program. After reading some of these daunting posts I'm concerned to say the least. I have been accepted at and SLU. I crossed Drexel off the list due to very frequent campus visits. SLU has an excellent reputation but $$$. So, I decided to look into USA. I was thrilled to see they offer the MSN in psych. Like rajan2 I would like to take at least adv patho ahead of time. I can't find a school that allows this.

Now I'm really concerned about USA's learning format. Would like more info from current students.

Thanks

Yeah I would really like to know about advanced Patho, Pharm, and Nur Assessment from anyone who has taken it online... ..msteelhorse, I have heard some bad reviews on a few of the programs at USA but the few reviews that I have seen on Psych NP has been favorable. The many options for the Psych NP start dates and the requirements for admittance does fit my liking. I tend to go with schools that works for me (cost, online, and requirements)....will PM you.

So, rajan2, I see that to go part-time you have to either start summer or spring...fall is FT. Can you not go PT by starting in the fall due to the course sequencing?

I am entering my 3rd semester in the Psych NP BSN-DNP program. I have to say to those of you interested: Do not let anyone talk you out of gathering your own experience of USA's online work. I have gained so much from this school and yes, my writing, critiquing abilities etc. have drastically improved. I have great instructors who have (on more occasions than one, been very flexible and considerate). There are a few things I don't care for but nothing at all nearly bad enough to want to or need to leave them. For those who asked, I took Adv. Assessment, Adv. Patho, & Adv. Pharm at the University of Cinncinati online was able to transfer them seamlessly. If you have any questions more, ask away.
