Hi, just thought I'd start a thread for University of Rochester's ABPNN Fall 2013 applicants...

Yes, I did feel like my interviewer was trying to convince me to go there. Are they not giving phone calls anymore? I've begun to stare at my phone, even though it's way too early.

nermface this forum is the first place I've heard of the acceptance phonecall, so I couldn't tell you about that part. I don't see any mention of it on the current website. The smaller number of applicants is encouraging though in terms of more of us getting in! I typically don't answer my phone unless I recognize the number, but I've been answering lately anyway just in case!!

Does anyone know how much they expect for the acceptance deposit? And/or what vaccinations we need? I saw on one of the forums that we have to have had a physical by June 30

I think I read $600 from previous posts/cohorts, but it may have changed.

Not certain of the vacs, we might be told upon our acceptance ^_^

That's great-having connections defo is a good thing to have!

I'm wrapping up from a ridiculous semester. Taking 20 credits- bio, micro, orgo, nutrition, and A&P. If anything else, this hectic semester has prepped me for the potential rigor we'd be facing at any accelerated program!

Based on last fall's cohort, people started to get calls around the first week of June... and those who had been wait-listed got calls all the way into August. I sincerely hope this isn't the case this time around!

Wow, August?? That seems insane!! What a nightmare to get everything done/purchased/arranged in just a month! Your course load sounds wild, you'll definitely be "warmed up" for the fall!

Hi All, I am wondering if I could butt in with a question about the U of R program.. I am looking at applying for fall of 2014 and it looks like a fantastic program but the only thing holding me back is the cost. It is by far the most expensive program I am considering and they come right out on their website and say that there is little available for scholarships/grants so most people take loans for the full amount. Is this a deterrent to anybody? Is the program so good that it warrants the cost? Thanks in advance for any input :)

Butt away! :up: Honestly, I was totally taken aback by the cost, but when I thought about it... the medical field is the best debt to get into. That's what I keep repeating to myself! And I know when it comes to getting a BSN, they say it doesn't matter which school you go to as long as it's accredited... But I think certain hospitals, school does matter. And UR is one of the top nursing programs in the nation. You're going to get loads of experience compared to other programs.

Thanks for the input :) I still have a little ways to go before applying and will have to make my decision based on the schools that accept me (hopefully all the programs I am applying to will have me!). Til then, nothing to do but bust my butt finishing my prereqs! Maybe I will see you all at U of R soon :)

Not a thing yet. I certainly hope they plan on calling us before we get a letter. I'm moving down to the beach for the summer, so my parents' will be getting the news before I do! (if I get accepted that is:saint:)

I got an interview mid March, and still waiting. My interviewer said they'll reply by June 1. Its only 2 weeks away! And i'm nervous. I so badly want to go here.
