UIC GEP 2013

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Anyone applying to UIC's graduate entry program starting Jan. 2013? I've glanced at the threads from the past couple of year's and thought I'd start one for the next application cycle. I'm finishing up pre-reqs and taking the GRE in a month. Good luck to all who plan on applying!

Congrats on your acceptance eidas! That is great news!

Thank you!

Can I please know what did everyone's stats looked like? ( gre, gpa, extra curricular) thank you so much! And congratulations on getting in! I wish nothing but the best for you all!!

My GPA and GRE were on the lower end of the spectrum, but I had 5 years in healthcare as a paramedic, as well as 3 years of academic research under my belt, so I think that's what made me stand out. The benefit of a program like this is that they don't just take your academic record into consideration (which is a good thing, and is unlike medical schools and PA programs). I don't think all programs work like this, though, as I was flat out rejected by DePaul's MSN program, but flat out accepted into UIC's....so.....I guess I those 5 years in EMS paid off in the end.... Doesn't matter...I'll take a top 10 ranked nursing program over a 176th ranked school any day...

Excellent! Thank you for your feedback! Good luck!

Is anyone attending the pathophysiology and/or clinical skills seminars?

Is anyone attending the pathophysiology and/or clinical skills seminars?

I plan on attending both.

Is info on these seminars part of your welcome packet? I haven't gotten mine yet...

The info was sent in the beginning of May. Its sponsored by the Urban Health Program at UIC. I haven't received a welcome packet from the College of Nursing yet either.

When are those? I didn't get any info for them..

I would like to attend those sessions, but I've heard nothing about them. Hopefully information comes in our welcome packets

These sessions start on Tuesday. Information on them were sent in the beginning of May for those put into the Urban Health Program. Those who identified themselves as African American, Latino, or Native American were put into this program. I have not gotten an official welcome packet from the College of Nursing yet as well.
