Is anyone applying to the Fall 2012 program ? I have a few questions and I think it would be good to share our concerns regarding the application process here.

I am a preschool teacher and I am applying for 2012. Have very little healthcare volunteer experience and wondering if that really maters. I have some experience looking after a family member who had a stomach surgery and chemo.

hi! I am planning to apply UCLA 2012! I just started to prepare grad school, so I feel like i am so behind. are you already finishing your applications?

Anyway, I am currently nursing student!

Hello!

I also applied for next fall. I am also in the process of finishing a few pre-preqs and know I'll do well in them. I wish I had done them before so those grades were on my transcripts, but we'll see what happens. Are you guys applying to any other schools? I think UCLA is pretty competitive, which makes me extra nervous!

Good luck to all!

KASSACH,

Hi there! I'm a first year MECN! I started 4 weeks ago lol Regarding to healthcare experience, I think it would be helpful for you if u have some experiences. However, I've noticed that probably 10 people (only whom i know of) in my class never had any healthcare experience before.

Good luck!

@Nadianana: How are you liking the program so far? What's your schedule like during the semester? Any night or evening courses? Any suggestions for the application? Thanks! btw, i'm also applying for fall 2012. So glad its a pretty stress free application by itself---not the actual admissions process though, lol

@danceluver,

I like it so far, but I gotta tell you this program is super super intense. U will find yourself doing nothing else beside studying and writing paper work lol For my class schedule, Mon 9-11am, Tue 9am-8 pm (3 classes!), Thu 9am-5pm, Fri 8-11.50 am. For application, I think statement of purpose is quite crucial! Don't forget! There is no interview, so I think they figure out who you are based on what you write in your paper. Btw, try to attend the information session . They provide very good guideline and recommendation about the application process. I hope this helps!

Nadianana,

Thanks for letting me know. I feel so much better knowing that I have a chance to get in. I am starting a volunteer program at the end of this month.

Hi guys, I just recently decided to apply to the UCLA program and have been a lurker on the forums for the past month or so.

@christy17 - I am applying to a few other entry level master's programs (USD, Vanderbilt, Columbia) and some ABSN (JHU, Duke) programs. All of the them have different requirements and application systems, so it has been demanding. Are you applying to any other programs?

@KASSACH - I think you will be okay even though you have little to no healthcare experience. I would suggest volunteering at a local hospital and get to know some of the nurses and what they do. As a teacher, I think the experience you have would be valuable if you decide to specialize in peds, so they may look highly upon that aspect. Good luck!

@Nadianana - Thanks for your insights and information about the program. I really hope I get in since this is one of my top choices and I live about 30 mins away from the school. Would you mind posting or messaging me your stats and how the process was like for you? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I submitted my application yesterday! Good luck to all applicants.

Submitted and now the waiting begins!!!!! Good luck

same, submitted last night! Good luck everyone! btw, transcripts don't need to reach them until December :)

I submitted mine last week too! From my talks with the admissions people, you only need to submit 1 transcript from each institution, even where you did your undergrad degree. Ignore what is stated on the website, as it is a typo. Good luck guys!
