Anyone have any experience with them? I'm looking at the MSN online. Or if you have any experience with any other distance or online programs I'd love to hear from you:)

What's the ballpark cost of obtaining the BSN and also the MSN through UoP? I've been to their website, but you have to sign up to get info; which I did, but haven't rec'd anything. Do they charge by credit hours like any other college? (If you have the info and don't want to post, please PM me)

For a BSN, about $20,000. It costs $1200 per class since UOP is a private school and not public.

WOW! Was not expecting to hear that....think I'll stick with my original plan of using a local university's online program. Thank you for the info, though!

I just received a quote from UOP for MSN degree. It is $465 per credit. A class typically is worth 3 credits = $1395. Total cost for a dual MSN/MHA is 18 classes, 51 credit hours = $23,715.00. I do know costs vary per degree, masters vs. undergrad too. I have not found a cheaper costing online program as of yet. Do you know of any?

Hi. Im new to the site and noticed you are in the UOP MSN program. I am just filling out the paperwork for MSN/MHA degree with UOP. Can you pleeaaase give me the scoop on how UOP works from a real user perspective, what you like and don't like about UOP. I am anxious to know what to expect. Also, were you able to work 40 hours a week plus keep up with coursework, group projects, 4x required log-ins, etc..?? Thanks. You can PM if you would like.

I have seen these reports, but lets not forget that this happens in any college. There aremany fake degrees floating around, the head of FEMA just got canned for this exact thing. My credentials were really scrutinized. I am currently in the MSN program, and after getting my BSN at a private catholic school, I see the work load as almost the same, only at UOP the instructors are willing to work with the class a little.

I dont know anything. This is my first semester in actual Nursing School. But I asked my clinical instructor during clinicals and she said that UOP students gain no respect in the nursing community (atleast here in Florida). I REPEAT!!!! I know NOTHING!!! I asked her because I was thinking of finishing up my BSN with them after I got a ADN. "She Said.... Its an easy way to get by the nursing program... without hard work, but later you get no respect from fellow nurses and the Health institutions"

Frankie

That is absolutely not true. It is very hard work trying to keep up with major assignments. Finishing classes in 5 weeks is honorable and I feel badly for those who think that online courses are the easy way out. Classes all over the nation are going online and are accrediated. Maybe you should ask your instructor for specific names of those who disrespect the nurses who have gotten a BSN or MSN from UOP. See if she can name names.

Is it just UOP students or any students who get an online degree?

I agree NicuMom. The UOP is accredited NLN and very soon to be CCNE accredited. CCNE(Commission for Collegiate Nursing Education) is the highest form of accreditation that 70% of Campuses/Universities across the country hold. In my opinion, UOP is not some rinky-dink degree mill.

I have a friend who was a Director of Pharmacy for a large Hospital and recently completed the UOP MBA degree program. She stated it was a huge amount of work and time every week for the online classes. She took a UOP campus class and said it was alot less time consuming on a weekly basis to go to the campus and interact versus the online requirements. Due to her busy work schedule she was forced to do classes online as will I be doing.

I am going to complete my MSN from UoP this February, it is not easy and the facilators have top notch. All the Grad nursing classes the facilators have a Phd. What is unique to UoP is exposure to students nation wide and few classes had international students. I also became a SigMa Theta Tau member this year. I have enjoyed the program but glad I am almost done.

I don't think there's a lack of respect for the UofP degrees, at least not here in PA or the MD area where I have some friends/collegues that went through their programs. In fact, one of the techs at my hospital told me that the nursing instructor at the local community college was suggesting it as a BSN option for to the students if they were looking at online degrees. I am in my first semester at St. Louis University's online MSN for perinatal nurse educator. So far, so good. It is very expensive though. It is also a lot of work and I only take one class. Online just means greater flexibility, not less work. Bestof luck to you!:)
