Anyone familiar with this school with any comments? I'm sort of looking at them and the U of Pheonix right now.

Here's an obvious question from those who know and love you . . .. . WHY are you thinking about U of Phoenix and Indiana?

:kiss Well, I'm looking at universities that offers a nurse educator specialization for the MSN, that offers a part time track (since I have to work) and that offers the program either by distance (as those two do) or that is close enough to where I live (unfortunately the ones around here aren't too appealing). Oh, and one that will not cost me over 30K would be nice too... Any suggestions?

I can't believe I'm actually thinking about doing this.... I've sort of tossed around the idea of going for the CNM, but I think I would enjoy teaching since it's part of what I love about nursing in general...

Fergus,

I'm applying to the University of Wyoming's Nurse Educator program for Fall 2006. It is entirely online, can be done on a 2,3, or 4 year tract with, I believe, 6 years to finish. It is accredited. The best part is that it has been the least expensive option I have seen. For this year it is $195/credit hour which includes $40/credit hour delivery fee--I'm assuming this fee is to cover the access costs. (I received this info directly from the school; it has not been updated on their website.) It would actually be feasible to pay-as-you-go. They do require the GRE and a thesis or non-thesis project that is defended by teleconference. You can get more infromation at http://www.uwyo.edu/nursing --you kind of have to hunt around for the online information, but it is there.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks Sparky, I'll take a look later:)

I looked at the website and it's definitely been added to my list of potential schools. I'm also looking at Walden University right now and Norwich.... Who knows what I'll wind up doing?

OMG, I got some stuff from University and it is sooooo freakin expensive! That one's off the list.

For which program?

I'm thinking of further schooling too . . . but not sure what direction. I don't want a BSN in nursing, I do know that.

Keep us updated about what you find out.

Can you leave the babies behind though? :crying2: I don't have a specialty area that I would really miss . ... . I'm not crazy about bedside nursing anymore. I do like the ER . .. not sure if I would like teaching ... .it is hard to be middle-aged and searching . ..

For which program?

The MSN. Most of the programs I've seen have been about 200-450 per credit hour. is almost 700.

Yikes!

Boy, I'm not sure I'd be up to defending my thesis - conference call or not. :uhoh3:
