I agree with all of the above. I am no expert but I really do think they look at you as a whole and thus your application and see the large picture. I think the average TEAS score for incoming applicants for last year class for oakland and sacramento was in the mid 80's I believe? But I could be wrong! Also the TEAS portions are science math and verbal/reading, it would be interesting to see if they focus on the science portion or the reading portion? I know my friends that took the GRE for other science grad programs focused on the science/math sections more than the verbal but then again who knows! Just do your best that's all you can ask for! Also maybe look at the old forums for this program, there are a lot of little tid bits of information that could be helpful!

Thanks for the quick reply ALXiong!

It is just a very anxiety provoking process. I just want to know where my TEAS score stand because I have no idea what to thinking about it. Any suggestions will help! Thanks!
    Hi yay123,
I agree with the other replies, TEAS score is only one component of their assessment. My TEAS score was not that great (~78.4 overall - dang that science section). I have not been accepted, but my scores got me far enough to get an interview for the ELMSN - FNP and waitlisted (#9) for the ABSN. So, my suggestion is to study hard and do the best you can. Worse case scenerio is you retake the test (SMU takes the highest score).

Make sure you focus on all areas because not only one section is looked at. Good luck to you.

In addition, sorry for the long posts, I think they may/will take a look at your last 90 units GPA, your science GPA, letters of recs, and your experience, and community service. Like said above, there looking at a lot of things other than your TEAS score! I guess in the end GPA/TEAS is an indicator of your strength in academics, and maybe if one can handle the rigor of this program? But again I am no expert! I am sure you will do great, and your application will be awesome! Good luck on everything )

Thanks for the positivity Sisyer2! I got 20% above the national average, but I don't know if it's good enough. It's such a mystery how schools weigh different elements of the application. I read on the forum that as long as you have a 80% and above, you should be fine; however, people complain that their scores were low when they scored in the mid-80s. I've been trying to contact the counselors, but it's so hard to get a hold of them. Oh, man!

Thank you everyone for your kind words and encouragement! Everyone is so friendly here! On the website's TEAS FAQ, it mentions that they look at the reading and math sub scores and the composite score. I'm so nervous because my gpa is not my greatest so I'm trying to make up for it with my TEAS. Thanks again everyone!

I would also suggest, if you are not already doing so, volunteer or get health care experience. You can look at the application and start working on your essay. It is never to early to start since you will have a lot of revisions.

I called the the advisor from Sac (it's so hard to reach the advisor from Oakland) to ask her what she thought of my TEAS score and whether or not I need to retake it. She said they look at the composite, reading, and math scores. As long as you exceed the average, it should be fine. Hope that helps!
