MSN Program Question

So...my question is rather simple. I just finished my undergraduate nursing program with a 2.973 gpa. My question is whether or not I should apply for graduate MSN program with this lower gpa (had my baby which is not an excuse but it was tough). The descriptions on the websites I have visted so far state a 3.0 "B" average.

Should I just try it and see what happens?

You should try. If the programs you're interested in require the GRE, doing well on that could make up for a lower GPA. In any event, you could at least contact the school and ask if those with GPAs less than 3.0 are ever admitted, and if so, how to make yourself a competitive applicant.

You could try for some that you are interested in. Make it up by having a solid GRE score (>1000), personal essay, and letters of rec. If I were you, though, I would work and volunteer for a couple of years to gain experiences and build up your resume.

I don't know how competitive program are by you, but normally GPA is one of the major components in admittance. If you have a GPA close to the minimum it just means you need to offer something at the high end in other categories.

RN experience, leadership experience, and recommendations will all help offset a GPA.
