MSN-Direct Entry

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Specializes in L&D/Maternity nursing.

Hi everyone! I just joined this site and thought I'd take the time to introduce myself.

I recently was accepted into a MSN-Direct Entry (Clinical Nurse Leader) program. I start in January and am very excited to learn.

Is anyone else here a direct entry student?

I currently hold a Bachelors in Biology and have been working in a research lab for the past three years. During that time I have been taking the necessary pre-reqs needed to get into nursing school. I was unsure what I wanted to do right after college and I am glad that I took the time necessary to figure it all out. Now I am am eager to be a student again and look forward to a career in nursing.

I am applying for a MSN-Direct Entry for Fall 2009.

Which school did you get into?

What about you...where are you applying?

Hey melmarie.

I am also a potential MSN Direct Entry student. Congrats with being accepted. :yeah:

I am in my 1st semester of a DE-MSN/CNL program. I'm so glad to be there but it's a *ton* of work! I had been working 20 hrs/wk (and I have 3 kids) but I just quit my job cause I didn't have enough time to study.

I was at UNH for a week-long master class way back during my undergrad. I actually got Lyme disease from a tick bite while I was there so watch out!

Wow...I think so highly of people like you. You have 3 kids and are able to do such a demanding program. I'm worrying about how I am going to find time to relax and I have no kids lol.

Specializes in Urgent Care NP, Emergency Nursing, Camp Nursing.

I'm starting in the Master's Entry to Nursing Program at DePaul in January. Also doing the CNL thing most likely - I think it's the consolation prize for having had to do the master's research thesis thingy.

oh yay! Another CNL! Its a relatively new field....UNH was the only school in my area that went this direction with their direct entry programs, at the Master's level that is. All other Masters programs programs were for NP or else you could get a second bachelors/RN.

Of the three Masters-Entry programs in Chicago/Illinois, DePaul and Rush both do the CNL thing while UIC makes their students get their RN and then throws them into an advanced care MSN program.

Specializes in Critical Care, Progressive Care.

I am also a bio major and I just finished my second quarter a DE program. It is time consuming but I LOVE IT! I found that having science experience is a big help. The non-science majors had a much tougher time. Have fun!
