ISU, USA, or UAB FNP program

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Hello. I have applied to Indiana State University, University of South Alabama, and University of Alabama Birmingham's FNP programs for Spring 2011. So far I have been accepted to ISU. If USA or UAB accepts my application as well, I will have to choose which one to attend.

Any advice? Are they that different from each other? I have looked at the programs online and read countless threads on this website about all three programs. USA has more reviews on allnurses.com that ISU and UAB combined.

So if you have attended one of these programs, I would love to know your thoughts on your program both good and bad.;)

Who knows, I may only be accepted to ISU. That would make the decision pretty easy!!!

I just started at UAB in August and have been really impressed with the school so far. It has been exactly what I was looking for. The instructors are available, give prompt answers to questions, the classes are organized well and they provide the resources we need to learn the content.

I know USA's Women's Health program is good, but I've heard they accepted too many FNPs and are now struggling to keep up with all of the students. But I think a lot of schools are having that problem right now, because they are receiving record numbers of applicants. A local school may not take any spring admissions, because they accepted so many students for the Fall.

Btw, UAB took about a week longer than they said to get the acceptance letter to me, so I doubt you'll hear from them early. Also, if you do decide to go there, make sure you get in to see you PCP right away and have all of your vaccination and other health stuff together. You can't register until that information is processed, and it takes several weeks for them for process it. I couldn't register until 3 days before classes started and I was pretty nervous about getting into the classes I needed.

thanks for the heads up...The application deadline was Sept 24th so I imagine that it will be a while before I hear something.

TXRN10: Have you heard from UAB? I still haven't received a letter...
