GRE's

I would like to know too. Anyone have any ideas what the ballpark GRE score needed for NP/ MS programs? THX!

I think it totally depends on the school. My grad school only requires a combined score of 800 but someone else on another thread said that her school requires applicants to get an 1100. So you should really contact the grad school you want to go to and see what that individual school requires. Of course, some schools do not require the GRE at all. Wish they were all like that! :)

From what I read they are only a portion of your application packet and that if you are below the minimum standard then it should be addressed, (yet, still apply because if you take yourself out of the running then there is not chance at all that you will get in).

I have also read that different schools have different minimums, the one that I saw the most was a combined score of Q+A = 1000 and a AW of 4.0. I have also heard of people saying that they only got like 300 on the V but that thier math scores saved them! (vice versa too).

If you are weak in one area, do not necessarily focus all of your energy on that area, keep your energy evenely distributed and study what you are really good on too because, that may be what SAVES your GRE score. :)

It really does depend on the school. I have attended grad school twice and the scores required by the 2 schools were a couple hundred points apart. One school required 1000 combined score on the 2 sections of the test (math and verbal) the other required 1200. The 3rd section of the test (dealing with analytical reasoning) was fairly new at the time and not yet incorporated into their standards.

I also served as a student representative on the admissions committee for one of those schools. When students did not achieve the minimim school, they might still be accepted, but were on probation for a semester and needed to demonstrate that they could maintain a certain grade point average for that first full semester of coursework.
