I will most likely be going to DePaul this fall.

Since I'm moving from the West Coast, could any of you current Chicago residents suggest a good nieghborhood to look for an apartment in that is close to DePaul? Thanks!!!

I have class and clinicals M-W and I'm "off" for the rest of the week. Its pretty nice, but I'm not liking the idea of that Monday. I won't be at orientation in June cause I'll be in upstate NY working with autistic children, so I stopped by to talk to Christine Werdick yesterday before the Cubs game. She gave me all these books for leisurely reading and stuff...And the titer sheet. I'm getting pretty excited. If any of you guys are on Facebook, we have a group for MENP '10 students. Go check it out!

I would look in the DePaul neighborhood, or Lincoln Park. Both are really close to campus. If you want something cheaper, Bucktown and Lakeview have a few good deals. But really, you just want somewhere that will be close to the Brown (or Purple) line on the L. Those both take you right to Fullerton next to the nursing building.

Oh! And also, look into 1237 West (Loftright apartments). Thats where I decided to live. Its close and furnished. Also, everything is included. Since you aren't from around the area, the move will probably be pretty hard. That's what appealed to me the most.

Congrats on your acceptance! I will graduate from the program in '09. I too chose DePaul because I wasn't ready to choose a specialty without ever experiencing any of my options in the field! Here's what I recommend about working and stuff:
That Monday schedule isn't as bad as you think, that morning clinical is actually in the lab, your hospital rotation is the other slotted time which is either a Tues/Th. I don't know why they list it like that, it was confusing to me too! Pharmacology (also mondays) is by far the most time consuming. Margaret is very demanding, but you will learn the most from her!
You can definitely work while you're in the program, I know a lot who do (myself included). You might want to cut back on your work hours a little the first term, just until you get situated and figure out how long you really need to devote to studying (pharm takes a lot of time!)
Any other questions feel free to ask!

I ended up getting a last miute call off a waiting list for my top choice program....I am going over to the dark side and pursing a career as a physician. Hopefully this will give my spot to someone else on the waitlist.
