I too am terrible in math, but the stats class was great. I actually learned and made an A. the instructor was awesome-she knew that we were taking it beccause we had to, and she really helped. Plus, microsoft excel will calculate for you, and she let us use it.

I was out of school many more years that you were, but I am doing fine. I bet you will too.

Is the stats class only for those who do not have a BSN? I just finished BSN stats and I do not want to ever have to look at that stuff again!

You should not have to take stats again. I had not taken it so I had too. They will look at your transcripts and tell you exactly what you need, if anything.

Actually, the research class was not too hard at all. I am in my last class before my practicum (YEAH), did not have to take stats due to the fact it was taken during my BSN completion. I am in the education focus, got my associate degree in 85, and am going to be 53 when I am finished. My current GPA is 4.0, and I work full time and have a 16 year old son and husband. So, you should not have too many problems. Walden has been the best decision made, in regards to continuing my education. Best of luck, Debra

I bought PERRLA software (its a download) No more APA issues/errors/markdowns. It does it for me and it does it right. Best $30.00 EVER!!!!!

I'm not at Walden, changed my mind at the last minute. I went with Kaplan and I LOVE IT!!

I had checked into Kaplan also. It was between Walden and Kaplan, but Kaplan wouldn't take my A & P grades since I didn't have a lab with them. I did my ASN through Excelsior (Regents then) and challenged it w/oa lab component. So I choose Walden. It has been just fine though.

Hi, FlyNavyRN -I spent 2 years watching my husband get a MBA from U of Phoenix before I started back to school. He spent each 5 week term in agony, sometimes staying up until 2 AM to finish school work, then getting up at 5 to go to work at 6.The good news is : He did it! and the good news for me: I found Walden - longer classes, less expensive and so far I have been impressed with the professionalism of the instructors and fellow students. I might add I am also learning quite a bit of new information And no marathon writing sessions.

Hi everyone,

I started at Walden last October. I took 3 prerequisite classes (stats was one) I needed and actually started the RN - MSN program in March '09. We have 2 weeks of NURS 6010 (Research and Inquiry) and then start Health Care Technology applied to Nursing Practice next. I can't wait for that one! I am pursuing the informatics specialization. Is there anyone out there that is currently in or completed the informatics specialization part of the program? If so - I am curious as to how your informatics experience at Walden has been! I am looking so forward to that part!

Thanks,
Judy

PS I LOVE IT. The experience has been great. I graduated from ADN in '86 and have been able to get through with challenging, but flying colors! I let the idea of stats class and writing papers hold me back for way too long. I learned that what held me back was fear and lack of confidence. Time flies and I will look back in a few years, realize I have this degree in my hand now and experience the best decision I have made in a long time!!

If you are thinking about it - do it!
