I have only taken the first one hour class. I start my first course, legal aspects of nursing, or something like that, in March. What did you think about that course? I like the cirriculum. It is truly tailored to the nurse educator. Some of the grad programs have too much extraneous crap not even related to nursing education.

I am in Walden's MSN education program. I have a couple of classes left, then my practicum, and then I'll be done. It has not been too bad so far. Some nites I have been so tired that I didn't want to face schoolwork. I am the DON at a nursing home, and the job leaves me exhausted. Think I will step down from my position at work when it is time for the practicum. Don't feel like I can do justice to both at the same time.

I feel SO blessed to have found this forum. I am into my first class at UofP and have decided to dis-enroll today and start at Walden. My degree for a RN/BSN track alone was going to cost me somewhere in the vicinity of $24,000! I have just talked to a good friend of mine who is about a year into her RN to Masters program at Walden. She loves it! And to hear that it will only cost around $20,000 for her Masters? I was floored! Please continue to post here with your suggestions, opinions, comments and positive supposrt for this program. I will be checking in frequently! Thank you all from the bottom of my heart!

I still feel that Walden is a great choice. I still find the classes manageable, although all the papers gets tedious at times!

Has anyone done their education spec classes and/or their practicum yet?

Any more current reviews of this university? My manager highly recommends it but I still have reservations. Any one in their leadership track?

I am not in the leadership track, but many of my classmates are. I still find it manageable. It is not difficult unless you have trouble writing papers. There are papers for each class.
I still manage to work fulltime, assist my husband with church, and have time for my family. I do not have small children, but many of my classmates do and they find it in not a problem.

Hi everyone, I am glad I decided to search Walden here. I work full time in the operating room and have decided to go back to school, big decision. I was looking into the state university but someone at work told me to look into Walden. I did and it all sounds great but I had reservations until I saw everyones posts. I would have just talked to the nurse at work but she is PRN and I don't see her much. I am planning on the Health Care Administration degree. I have my BSN, so this will shave off a year? I did not realize that.

It sounds like everyone is happy with their decision in going to Walden. Lots of papers huh, joy. I don't particularly enjoy writing but I guess I am going to learn to like it.

Is the goal statement a big deal? Need to spend a lot of time really thinking it out? Or just answer the questions?
Do you buy your books online? Do you pay the total amount or like normal school?

Thanks for the information many of you have written and I look forward to talking with you throughout this journey.

The goal statement will be important in your first class. then again in the latter classes for the portfolio.
Just answer the questions-make it sound good-you know sell yourself. My enrollment advisor helped me with it because I have a hard time selling myself. I felt like I was bragging too much!

The books automatically are shipped to you prior to the start of class. I have always got mine in a timely manner. They are included in the tuition cost. It is a great deal, and I feel it is worth the cost. It seems lest expensive that others.

You can pay in installments, or get student loans. For a graduate degree almost everyone qualifies.

The papers aren't bad. It really depends on the class. Some classes have a 1-2 page paper every week, others a 2-3 page paper every other week. The class I am in now I have two 6-8 page papers-one due at week 4 and the other at week 7. Then a 2-3 page paper week 8. Other than that you have your weekly discussion question and responses. It really is manageable. The biggest thing will the be formatting of the papers-It must be in APA format. They send you the manual, and it helps: however there are some really great APA formatting programs you can but for the computer. Word 2007 comes with it built in.
The profs help with this, and there is a writing service that walden provides that will critique your papers for y ou free.

All in all, it is a great program. Of course, occasionally you get that prof that makes you want to pull your hair out. I have only had one in the 1 1/2 years I have been at walden.

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask!

Thanks for the information. I am sure I will have a lot of questions. I am actually getting my transcripts ordered right now. Im really nervous about this, it is a big decision.

I have only been out of school since 05 so hopefully my APA skills are still there. But if there is a critique for free, that is awesome. I guess I better get working on pimping myself out for my goal statement. I hate doing that, but I guess it must be done.

Oh how about the stats class? I barely passed that class, math is a weakness.
