I will start 01/09, and I work full time. How much time you commit to weekly assignments, etc? What is a typical week like?

Thanks

Hello,

The first term takes a little more time, 2 courses in 8 weeks. I work at the computer for about 2-3 hrs a day when I am not at work. When papers are due it takes more time at the computer. The first 2 terms were used to get use to the program, now I have my time adjusted, it is a lot easier. When you get one week done, you can work on the next week, but you can not post until Mon. Only 5 more terms to go

I don't spend a lot of time on the classes. I read very fast, so that makes it easier. The first time you will take 2 classes-1 is a 1 credit into class-a bit laboroious, but not difficult. The other is a regular class.
Tell me, do you already have your BSN or are you doing the RN to MSN? That makes a differerence on the classwork..

I only took one class when I started since we were moving to a new state and I was starting a new job at the same as starting at Walden. It just delays my completion by 8 weeks. I highly suggest this if you are worried about your full time work and school schedule.

I take 1-2 days off during the week of school ( I work full time and have 2 five year olds) due to other committments.

I work on my assignments after the kids go to bed and on weekends in the evening. The time varies from 2-4 hours each time-depends on if there is a paper due.

APA format and writing in general was my biggest challenge since it had been 16 years since graduation.

6 more classes after my current class.

The first year went VERY fast!!

I'll be glad for the extra time and sleep when I am done.

Needless to say, going back to school for my Doctorate is NOT going to happen any time soon.

Question Re: Question tuition at Walden...
Hello,

Could somone tell me if there are options for financial aid/scholarships through the University if the person maintains the min. required GPA for the Master's program? Some Universities require at least 3.5. What is Walden's requirement?

Thanks,

I was told pretty much everyone qualifies for financial aide. Yes you must maintain a 3.0 I believe. Call or email them for info. They are very helpful and will walk you through every step.
It is 16,000 if you have a BSN
20,000 if you have an ADN.

Hi All,
I am also enrolled in Walden's MSN Education track and I am in 6330. Only 3 more classes to go and I am done. Yahoo!!! For me, this program hasn't been easy because I have never been a good writer (and Walden is all about writing papers). I spend anywhere from 15-30 hours a week on my school work. If writing comes easy to you, you should have no problems. I am always happy to help new students with their studies at Walden because I know firsthand how it feels not to have any support. Online education can be lonely at times but it has given me more self confidence in my ability to learn. I would be happy to answer any questions anyone might have and if any of you need assistance with your courses, please don't hesitate to ask.

Hi Otessa,

I am currently finishing my fourth class. It is Link to Nursing Theory. My next course is on Evidence Based Practice Research (6130 - I believe). So far I have found the classes challenging and interesting. I am nervous about the research class....Only 8 more classes to go....My graduation date is May 2010. Congratulations on your success so far...Where are you from? I am located in Maple Hill, NC...near Camp Lejeune.
