Got rejected too! Sigh...i only applied for two schools. This one and CSULB.
Congrats to those of you got accepted! Great job! Now I have to focus on CSULB! I haven't submitted the application yet. I took TEAS one time. I am thinking if I should retake it to get a better score. I only got 87%. Should I retake it? What do you guys think?

I shouldn't be helping you since we are going to be a rival (Just kidding)
Yeah, I think you should retake it especially if your math score is not very high.
From what I've read, TEAS (esp. math) is very important in their selection criteria.

(BTW, I don't mean that I think 87% is not good. What I mean is that I would try to maximize points since Long Beach converts TEAS score to points that they use for selection)

Thanks for your advise! I think I should have looked into it earlier. I was lazy! I took that one last minute too without much studying. I just called CSULB, tomorrow is their last test session; and it's full! Oh well, need some luck then.

I'm a current student, and CSULA has the best nursing labs that I have ever seen. They have interactive mannequins, and lots of equipment.

I'm not sure how it compares to a private school (like Mount St. Mary's), but I know they have invested quite a bit in making a modern laboratory.

Hi,
I'm currently an undergraduate student at UCSD.
I have been doing brief researches on nursing schools here and there.

Does anyone know what are some of good Direct-Entry MSN nursing schools?

I will obtain a BS in Human Biology, and I don't know how that would work to my advantage when applying for nursing schools. Does it at all? =/

Also, some colleges that I've heard (and were mentioned throughout this thread) that would have a direct-entry MSN program for those who have a BS in a field other than nursing were:

UCLA School of Nursing
MSMC
CSULA
CSULB

One good thing I heard about UCLA School of Nursing is that it does not require you to take the GRE, which is generally required for most masters programs. Is the GRE the same as TEAs and the NCLEX? I'm confused about those exams that have been associated with nursing programs...

Also, it seems that CSULA is highly competitive (acceptance rate of 20 students a year??? Wow.) Or is that the case for most nursing programs?

PS - Congrats to those who got accepted!!!

I'm a little partial to CSULA, but that's because I'm an ELMN student there right now!

Theoretically it shouldn't, because the science prerequisites are required for everyone who applies. What matters more is your GPA, and your grades in the science classes. However, some schools rate classes that are taken at a four year university higher than those taken at a junior college, but I don't think it makes that much of a difference.

You don't need the GRE to apply at CSULA. The TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills) is the entrance exam to most CSU nursing programs. It's MUCH easier than the GRE, but many schools require you to score in the 90th percentile, so don't blow it off.

The NCLEX is the board exam to get your RN license. You won't take that until you complete your RN coursework (for most of the Direct-Entry programs, that is after your first year of school).

I miss CSULA, I did my undergrad there and would love to go back after so many years. I'll try to apply for the next class.
