Yeah, mine was also void of any speciality notice. I'm pretty sure we will either learn more in the acceptance packet or after we matriculate!

Hi,

This year's "first years" didn't have to commit until yesterday, so you have some time to decide.

Oh wow, so we do have quite a bit of time to figure it out...that's good, do you know how many spots per speciality there are?

I don't think there are limits in each specialty. They want to know so they can start lining up the clinical spots they need.

You'll hear something this summer, maybe in early June. Generally, they do something in August before classes start. A good portion of the students are out of state, so they wait til right before classes start to avoid extra travel expenses. This is how it's been the last two years, and I haven't heard that it's changed.

BCGradNurse, thanks for all your advice and help. I have another question for you! Do you know when we will receive an info packet after having sent in the acceptance form? Do you remember when you did? Danke!

BCGradNurse, sorry to bother you with more questions...but for your first year clinicals are you paired with other students (in groups) or do you have them by yourself

I think it was sometime in early June. You should be getting info about orientation, a tentative class schedule, helpful tips, and you'll be paired up with a 2nd year student "buddy". Make good use of your buddy-he or she will be able to give you a lot of advice and help you through that first year.

First year clinicals are in groups of 5 or 6, if I remember correctly (not that it was so long ago!). You'll be asked your preference for either a certain day of the week OR a certain hospital....you don't get to choose both! It was more important for me to have my clinical on a certain day of the week than it was to have it at a certain location, and my request was honored.

Let me know if you have more questions.
