Boston College Pre-Req - Life Sci Chem?

Yup I turned down University of Illinois at Chicago's GEP, banking that I would get into BC...and I did! I have to mail it tomorrow (I think it is due next Tuesday)? And then hopefully BC can offer me some financial aid! It's cheaper than other schools but definitely not cheap!! My name's Caitlin, btw.

First of all, I have to submit my disclaimer; I am older than most of the students in the program, am married with 2 teenagers, and live out in the 'burbs, about 45 minutes by car from BC, so I'm not really tuned in to the social life of the typical BC ME student. However, I do work 14 hours a week and I find that to be manageable along with school. I am able to get to the gym a couple of days per week and could probably get there more if I made the effort! You'll definitely be able to go out on the weekends-maybe not both nights, but one of them. We had one guy who started the program the same year I did, and he attempted to keep up his busy "pre-school" social life. It didn't work, and he left after the first semester. You'll figure out what you can and cannot manage. You do need to have some down time from school or else you'll go crazy. You're just not going to have a lot of it!!!

My name is Molly btw, and I can't wait to meet you guys - maybe even during the prereqs since I'm already taking night courses at Regis! Its going to be hard, but SO worth it and hopefully we'll meet alot of good friends along the way!

and ps - my uncle has season tickets to the football games, so maybe well have time to catch at least one?? haha

ThisAdventure, Regis is pretty good. I work 9-5 and then take A&P 2 and Micro at night (10 hours for each class) so its kind of a drag, but I guess I should get used to not having a life and working hard! Seriously though I can't beleive we will be NPs in just 2 years, thats pretty crazy! I've taken A&P I last semester and now I'm taking Micro there this semester and A&P 2 at Mass Bay. I wanted to take A&P II at Regis, but I couldnt due to scheduling conflicts. I would also recommend Salem State for taking Orgo. I met a girl at the Yale interview who said she took it there and they don't require a prereq and that it wasn't so bad (I think its also alot cheaper than Regis). Are you taking all 4 courses over the summer? Are you taking some online? I may try and take the ccconline course or I may just see if I can stay at Regis. So you go to school in Florida or are you in Jersey? Are you an undergrad? Haha woah look at me with all teh questions! I guess I'm just excited to get to know some of my future classmates!

I graduated from Providence College last May. I took a year off to get some work experience and take some prereqs. It has worked out quite well since I'm working as a clinical research coordinator and basically act as a nurse (take vitas, draw blood, do EKGs, etc) and I've been learning alot about medications and their classes, etc. I majored in psychology and always thought I would be a clinical psychologist (PhD) but nursing is a way better route!

Good luck on taking those prereqs guys! I just wanted to ask you guys if on your letters, if it specified which specialty you were admitted into? Mine just says that I have been accepted but does not say PNP which is what I applied for. Unless we just choose whichever one once we get to the master's portion?

heyy, my letter just stated that i was accepted and didn't mention anything about the specialty (I applied for psych/primary care route). I'm pretty sure that for BC we don't have to commit to our specialty until the first year which is a plus. I think that think will definately give us time to do our clinical rounds and and confirm or change our minds about what we want to do.
