asking for a reference quandry

I'm very interested in applying to an FNP program. I'm currently in an administration position and have over 10 years of great nursing experience. My boss is great, but she gets very bent out of shape if someone gives me any accolades and not her. I'm nervous about asking her for a reference, because I don't want it to drive a further rift in our relationship. Should I just do it anyway?

If you need her reference, you need her reference. Just take an antacid, pull in your breath, and ask her. Throw in a compliment or two to try to make it easier. Good luck.

If you think she'll be negative, I would not get her reference...?
