APU ELM for Fall 2013

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

I just applied to the Entry Level Masters program for Azusa Pacificu University and the deadline was November 1st....has anyone received a phone call for an interview? They are very vague on when you might hear something so I just want to know if anyone has heard....I have a 4.0 in all my pre reqs and a 3.7 GPA on my previous bachelors...I have no volunteer work so im curious if im still competitive or what you guys have going in as well that have heard...I dont know if its going through the pile thing, or if they call the people they like the best first? Im trying to be patient but I just need to hear something!!

Has anyone not heard from azusa at all for the fall term ?

I was told that they would be notifying everyone in April. The waiting is excruciating!

I called at the end of January to see what was taking so long, and since I had applied on the very last day (Nov 1st), I was sort of expecting them to get back to me a little later. Anyway, when I called, I spoke with someone directly in the nursing admissions office and she said that the school was changing some of their policies for the ELM program, and that they were now accepting more students for Spring AND Summer in addition to Fall, which is a very good thing for all of us sitting ducks!! She said that everyone should know by the end of February. Well, mid March is around the corner and I still hadn't heard back from anyone at APU -- until this afternoon!!

I got an email asking if I was still interested in the program and if so, when I could come in for an interview (yay)! So just be patient, I'm sure you will hear back soon. I was expecting a letter, but I got an email instead, which was even better. If you call in the morning, they are more likely to answer their phones.

Thanks for the update! :) when is your interview? I am wondering if they are still sending out those interview invite emails, because I haven't gotten one yet :/

does anyone know if they will be interviewing everyone before sending notifications in April?

Hi neenee0330!

I had my interview earlier this week. The lady that interviewed me said they are still interviewing until April 10th, and will notify all applicant by May. I didn't ask if it was early May or late May, but at least you have an idea of when you should hear a final decision about admissions! I hope this helps you. I also did not find out if they were still emailing for interview spots, but I'm sure they are since she said they will be doing interviews until April 10th.

The email she sent me only had me choosing from dates within 2 weeks from the date she sent the email, so I must assume she has sent out or will send out more emails until they have interviewed each "qualified" candidate.

I hope they don't keep you waiting for too long before they let you know what they think about your application, I know for me the waiting was making me crazy!!

Just wondering, did you apply to any other nursing programs?

Hi everyone!

I was admitted to the inland empire campus for this coming fall and wanted to wish you all the best of luck. If anyone here is also going to attend the San Bernadino campus, please feel free to contact me. Does anyone know of any safer neighborhoods or apartment complexes around that campus? I'm a bit alarmed by its high crime rate:/

Congratulations!

If you don't mind me asking but when were you notified and how were you notified (i.e. email or snail mail). I'm just trying to get a feel of when to expect something even if it's a rejection.

As far as living in San Bernardino, it is pretty bad around there. I would definitely suggest something closer to Cal State San Bernardino or Rancho Cucamonga and have a small commute.

Hi, congrats to all that have been admitted and good luck to those still waiting! :)

I'm just curious to those that have been admitted on your guys stats, I just want to get a feel if I should apply.

I have a 3.87 graduate gpa (they said they would accept this gpa over my undergrad if it was low), my science so far is 2.8 and I know that the minimum to apply for the science is 3.0. So to all those that apply and got in, do I have a chance to getting in? I still have one more science class to take. So I am hoping to get an A. What do you guys recommend, thank you so much.

Hi oyvey06,

Thanks for the tips. For some reason I don't get any notifications when someone replies to my posts, so forgive me for the lag in response. I was interviewed about three weeks ago and was admitted the same day. I think I may have been special-cased, but the director just asked me about the classes that I didn't do as well in. She also talked about the school and the program details. There really wasn't much to it, about 20 minutes or so. Everyone is very friendly so relax and just be yourself. Hope this helps:)

So I just got a call from APU saying I was accepted for the summer 2014 cohort at the Azusa campus which doesn't start until next May!

Did anybody else get a call?? I'm not sure what to do, a whole year seems like a long time (I was also accepted to CSU Fullerton which starts in the Fall)

I just got a call yesterday saying I was accepted for Spring 14 at the San Diego Campus!

Had anyone else got a call?

Congrats!

Hello all!

I am currently an APU ELM student at the San Diego campus and am happy to answer any of your questions (to the best of my ability!). I am just about finished with my first semester (it's currently finals week for us), so I may not be able to answer questions about life further on in the program.

For those of you worried about being accepted for a later term, I originally applied for Spring '13 at the San Diego campus and was told early last May that I was accepted for Summer '13 at the San Diego campus. This past November, however, I got a call that there was an opening in Spring '13 and got to start when I wanted to. Many of my fellow cohort-mates (your class is known as a cohort btw) also had a similar experience with getting to start earlier than the semester they were originally accepted for. So if you were accepted for a later semester than you wanted, I definitely recommend calling Jeanee Tuckness about any openings in earlier semesters because they seem to pop up!

Good luck to all of you! I know how nerve-wracking it can be waiting around for a response!
