Anyone applying to UAB MSN program?

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Hey just wondering if anyone is applying to UAB's MSN program. I'm applying to their FNP program, but still unsure as to whether or not i'm making the right decision about school choice. I'm specifically wondering about the time commitment. I work full-time and am wondering if I would still be able to keep my full-time job and do the distance learning format full-time as well. Also, cost is a major issue to me as my husband is racking up a gizzion dollars in dental school loans. Any info would be awesome.

Can you believe I still haven't received a letter! I have called several times and nobody is able to really help... This is beyond frustrating to me....

They definitely are not the best in the communication department, lol. What area of the country are you in? I read one post that said letters would be sent in waves (ie some last week, some this week). Let's hope that no news is good news. Did you apply anywhere else?

I still have not either, and I think it's absurd to not acknowlede an application when they've cashed my check. Everyone talks about issues with other schools, but obviously UAB has a few of their own. I've accepted my other choice, but just want closure!

I applied to UAB and Troy State. I was really hoping for UAB though. Checked the mail again, and nothing! I really don't know what to think, I just assume the worst and think that closure would certainly be nice!

I'm just curious if because we are post-master's if they wait to see how many declines they get before they send out acceptance to us?? Not sure, just racking my brain trying to figure out something! Everyone else on here who has been excepted or declined are just regular MSN students?? Have you tried calling?

Just checked the mail and found my acceptance letter for the ANP program as a nondegree seeking student... YAY! It was just a letter not a packet, and was mailed on July 13. I think they were waiting to see how may degree seeking students were accepting spots first and then moved onto the post-masters. Now I have a lot of thinking to do over the weekend. Has anyone else received letters today...if not hopefully you will hear something soon!

Okay so Tuesday I: faxed acceptance letter, POS, FERPA and license and CPR. I also did my background check and drug screen. Thursday I upload all of my medical stuff. I've got my blazernet ID, theres holds though so I can't register. So I guess I'm just waiting for my advisor to contact me. I feel like I'm missing something.

Question...did your POS and other forms come with your acceptance letter? Mine didn't come with any. I called UAB yesterday and they are suppose to call back with the info. I don't want to sign an acceptance until I know what I'm in for. I'm still frustrated by the lack of communication and will decide by Monday if I'll accept their offer.

I just found this forum tonight and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Got accepted last week to the Pediatric Acute/Continuing care specialty track.

I live in MS. Any other MS people on here?

I faxed the agreement forms and the notarized copy of my BLS, PALS and nursing license (so hectic due to the "misprinted" fax number) but I did not get a confirmation. When I called to ask if I could confirm that it reached them, she said NO! She said there was no way that they could confirm that they recieved my faxes unless I emailed Mr. Jamison directly and I quote "he is very busy and will probably not respond"! Did anyone else face this problem? AND- when I try to sign up for my Blazernet ID, It states that I'm not in the system.

I'm frustrated and feel as if the school is not being attentive to my needs.

Also, does anyone know the exact text to order for advanced patho?

I would love to get to know any classmates that were accepted into this specialty, so feel free to contact me!

You can't get a BlazernetID until all of your documentation has been submitted and accepted. I think it took about 3-4 weeks for my stuff to get processed after I had it all submitted. I finally got registered for classes a few days before they started. Don't worry about it though, they will open up additional sections if they need to to accommodate everyone. I think all schools right now are stretching themselves thin trying to accept as many students as possible, since admissions are up so much. I definitely don't think it is just UAB that is overwhelmed. But I agree it is frustrating when you need help.

I'm totally confused and this is not my first rodeo, so to speak! I applied for a post-masters program since I'm already a NP and also have my DNP. I applied to UAB because I could start (I thought) in January 2012. Friday, I got an acceptance letter to start in August! Maybe I'm delusional, but I would bet money that I applied to start in January since I have some commitments this fall that I considered before deciding to apply for the post-masters program in the first place!

For those of you who have been in direct communication with the faculty, who should I call to straighten this out? Also, is there an online course we can take to satisfy the OSHA requirements? Of course I do this at woke yearly, but I'm not sure if UAB would accept that.
