Hi all,
I applied to UCSF MEPN - Adult care and recieved my rejection letter last weekend on Saturday. : (
It's okay though, I am going to go to Johns Hopkins and am excited about moving out of the bay area (it is a great place but I grew up here so a change will be nice.)
Anyone know others who are going into the Acc. prgm. at JHU starting in June?
Good luck to all of you!

I don't live near SF and will be flying in for the interview. It looks like people from out of the area get one intensive interview day - I'm supposed to arrive at 8:00am and expect to leave at 4:30pm. A friend of mine living in SF had her interview split over two days instead.

I received my interview letter on the 16th. My second interview will be on the 19th at the Health and Human Services Department in Berkeley. Did anyone else receive an e-mail asking if you want to have current MEPN students contact you about the interviews?
Congratulations to all, best of luck to everyone!

The link posted above is a great resource! I did not apply to UCSF, but I thought it was still helpful! Does anyone have a similar link to info about Yale or Columbia's interview process?

Rchamp -
I wonder if the second interview relates to each chosen specialty - mine is at SF General Hospital on the 18th.....(this excludes people who aren't local; I think everything happens on the same day for people flying in).

Hello, all! I'm new to the site, but have also received an interview letter from UCSF for the MEPN program. I'm also not local (flying in from Boston). Anyone else coming from the East Coast?

Oh! And Happy Holidays!

Hi everyone!

I'm new to this site too. I received a letter to interview at UCSF last week for January 20th. Yay! I applied to the ACHIN MEPN.

bostongal - I am also flying in from Boston, although a week earlier because I have family in California. How long are you planning to stay in California?

Happy New Years!

[quote=bambou]Interesting discussion on this forum and congratulations to everybody who was accepted!
I will apply to the MEPN program at UCSF this year. Do you have any advice regarding the application process?
I have a Bachelors in anthropology. Do you know a lot of people with a background not in health care, biology or others?
I am a native french speaker. Do you know a lot of people in the program who speak english as a second language? Is a disadvantage?

Hi Melody,

My undergrad was in criminal justice so at least your degree is one of the sciences, : ) Having any language is a bonus, and with french I would maybe take some spanish classes if you have time. You will pick it up quickly and having spanish on your application will help more than french. I would also do volunteer work somewhere. I think it shows two things: one you are compassionate, and two you understand what you are getting yourself into. I was surprised by how many of my fellow students in the prerequisite classes were not doing any volunteer work, don't know if they got interviews or not. Volunteering does not have to be the huge commitment that some people think it is. I do three hours a week at an emergency department and that is it. It is a great way to meet nurses, physician assistants, doctors etc., observe what they really do, and see if you really want to deal with it. The prerequisite classes were the log-jam for me as the classes fill up so fast, at least in the community colleges. Hope this helps, and good luck to you!
