Any U Iowa MNHP applicants or students here?

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Hello,

I'm wondering if anyone else on this board has applied for Spring 2007 admission to the University of Iowa MNHP program? If so, have you heard anything? I was told a few months back from someone in the admissions office that they give all admissions decisions by the first week of July. This is a really quick turnaround considering the application deadline was 6/1, but I'm still going nuts babysitting the mailbox!

Anyway, I'm not from Iowa and I don't know anyone who has applied for admission or attended this program. If anyone has more information that they would be willing to share, I'd love to hear it!

Thanks for reading this and good luck if you have also applied!

I was going to apply last year. I ended up not applying because I got accepted somewhere else prior to my app there. I put in a lot of time talking to the admissions office there. They seems pretty friendly and approachable.

I am from Iowa and did my undergrad degree there. Iowa city is a laid-back liberal college town with a lot of cultural and sports events. It's kind of unique in Iowa, which is mostly a no-nonsense conservative small-town farm kind of state.

U of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics is highly rated in a lot of specialties and well known in the area. I am in Chicago now and have actually had a few people mention UIHC as the gold standard for a couple things.

The UI college of nursing is well know for a few nursing theories and studies (off the top of my head can't remember them though:) All in all it sounds like a great program. I think it's been around for a few years too, which is good.

If you have specific questions about Iowa I would be happy to answer them. good luck!

Thanks for the info, CEG. Congrats on your acceptance to nursing school in Chicago and I hope you are liking it.

I visited Iowa City about 15 years ago and loved it (I stayed with some elderly extended family in a really, really small farm town so going to Iowa City was like an oasis on that trip!). I'm sure things have changed a bit in 15 years and obviously as a kid you appreciate different things, but I thought it looked like a great place to go to school and considered moving there for undergrad. I've always heard great things about the school and the city.

If I get accepted, I will definitely have questions about housing and other stuff (I read over the housing guide, but it wasn't that helpful since I don't know the neighborhoods) before making the decision. I'll PM you if that works.

Thanks again!

I am assuming you have heard by now if you have gotten in. I heard back earlier this week. I got it! :balloons:

CONGRATULATIONS!! Yes, I was accepted as well. I'm going to send you a quick PM too. I'm so excited for us!!!
