    Question:
my financial aid package included about $73,000 in loans for the first year alone. I know there are loan repayment programs out there, but I worry, are they enough to pay off $150,000 in debt total? That seems quite intimidating and almost impossible to pay off! How do you all plan to pay off your debt? I already have about $20,000 from undergrad. I don't want money to keep me from pursuing my degree, and Columbia is my top choice, but I don't want to make a mistake and never be able to recover from the debt.

Nursing practice integration is where you shadow an RN and eventually take over his/her duties.

Hello everyone! I'm new to this website, but so thankful that I found it. I'm still debating about Columbia (I know, the deadline is FAST approaching)... I may just send the deposit and if I decide on going elsewhere, then I'll just deal with the loss. Anyway... I wanted to see if there were a lot ETP students coming from California?! What is everyone doing about housing?! I didn't get to attend the info day so I wasn't fortunate enough to see the dorms, which from what I read are very similar to what I saw during undergrad. Anyway. Looking forward to hearing the replies.

Hi NrsCA- I'm from CA and I am debating between schools too. Like I said in an earlier post, I will probably put the deposit down and see what happens from there. I attended the info session and the dorms aren't that bad- there are single rooms and co-ed shared bathrooms. I'm thinking of living in the dorms for the summer. Anyway!

    Hey everyone,

I created a group on facebook.com for the ETP program... kind of a get to know you before orientation and the actual Columbia facebook comes out (plus I'm procrastinating on my current school work)

Hi Cozzy. This is a good idea. I'm not sure if you're aware but the SON department at Columbia is setting up Facebook accounts for everyone that puts down their $500 deposit.

The facebook that the SON does has nothing to do with the website facebook.com. It's just your photo, uni, interests, specialty, etc... with some info about yourself that is uploaded into a password protected portion of the columbia SON website.

ps. great idea starting up the facebook.com group!

Can anyone pass on the url for the SON students website? I can't seem to find it anywhere. This is the one that you need the username and password to access. THANKS

    Hi Everyone,

I have a question for any current ETP students that might be reading this. After the first year is over do you get the summer months off and start the MS phase in the fall or do you immediately jump into it in the summer semester?

Also, when do they require you to take the NCLEX?

    Thanks!
