2013 UPenn BSN/MSN Applicants

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Hi Everyone! This topic thread is for those applying to UPENN BSN/MSN program summer 2013. I hope we can create a support network here!

I will be applying to the nurse-midwifery and WHNP program and have begun writing my personal statement. Their application should be completely available July 15th but you should be able to create an account. Good luck everyone!

did anyone hear about acute care adult/gero? I wouldn't be surprised if I didn't receive an interview, Penn was a stretch for me.

Were you a combined specialty? I bet you'll hear tomorrow :)

Hey Morganw1-

UPenn was a huge stretch for me because my graduate school GPA is not impressive, but I just got my interview invite for the BSN/MSN for psych. I'm sure you'll get your interview invite soon!

I'm sorry if this was previously stated in the thread, but does anyone know: How many applicants get interviews? How many interviewees actually get offered a seat in the class?

Thanks guys,

Hopeful: mine was just Adult/Gero Acute Care and not combined with anything I think there is a primary one? I don't know.

KoKe: neither is my GPA, GRE was decent. lots of volunteering/experience but I'm just not sure I'm what they are looking for.

My interview is Dec 7th. I'm happy to meet up with anyone! It'd be great to meet all of you friendly folks :)

Did they say that those were the top 75% and the 25% that arent interviewed are out of the question? or is that 25% split evenly between those definitely accepted and those not accepted?

75% of interviewees accepted

.....

75% of interviewees accepted

I am sorry to be messing up this thread!! I clearly do not know how to use this website. The reply vs quote is difficult as is trying to delete a post!!

I hate to clog this up--I have read other threads on here and I know how long and redundant they can get! Sorry!

Lifeismuzik,

75% of all BSN/MSN applicants are interviewed. I would assume they are considered the "top" applicants. My understanding is, if you are not invited to interview for your specialty, you are out of the running for the ABSN/MSN program. If you are not offered an interview for your specialty, you may still be considered for the ABSN (I think). Bardone and I provided the acceptance rates (among other information we collected at an info session) on pages 6 and 7 of this thread.

On page 6, Bardone said, "Last year ~600 people applied; 100-125 were admitted; they hope to matriculate 80-85 BSN students." If there are ~600 applicants, then ~450 of those applicants are invited to interview. If ~100 students are admitted, then you have about a 20-25% chance at being accepted after your interview.

No interview for me guys :( ( which I had a major feeling about) anyway, I am out of the running for BSN/MSN ACNP but! I am in the pool for the ABSN. So, who knows!? Columbia is my first choice so until a notice in February then. congrats everyone!

Morganw, I'm so sorry. Did they email you that? I can't believe it :(
