2012 UCSF MEPN Applicants

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

The MEPN deadline is less than 2 months away, so I thought I'd get a thread started for us 2012 hopefuls!

I'm a first time applicant to the WHNP/CNM specialty, and feel like I've been getting ready to submit this application for so long! I've been working abroad for a public health NGO for the past couple of years and am a trained birth doula. I've finished up all of my prereqs and GREs, selected people for recommendations (including a slightly awkward visit to my undergraduate advisor...), so now I'm just drafting my essays. Does anyone even know what the application is supposed to look like this year? I'm just going off samples I've seen from previous years.

Some days I feel sort of confident about my chances, and other days I feel as though this is a total shot in the dark and definitely not going to work out!

Any other hopefuls out there? And anyone know when the application is actually going to open?

Anyone else having problems viewing the actual application when you create an account? I created an account and only a blank screen is showing up on the application page..??

Yeah. Argh.

I sent them an email about it.

!!?!???!!

Man oh Man!!...Hopefully it's fixed soon, September 1 is right around the corner :)

Same here, it brings me to a blank page with the URL https://gdapply.ucsf.edu/apply/mepn/2012/page/1332

I thought maybe it had to do with security settings, but it seems to be a server issue.

Hopefully its not because there are too many people trying to get on it. Scary if they continue to have a record breaking number of applicants to program...and still only accept 50-60 individuals.

Just tried it and it finally works...

Oh and I believe they take around 80 people, by the way.

Thanks LookingAhead!

Ok, already need some help or clarification with the application. Under the Education component and I declare what schools I attended to finish the Pre-Reqs (outside of my undergrad), what are you all putting for the "Major/Field" - I put Pre-Nursing. I also indicated that no degree was earned at these schools. Is that what you are all doing?

Thanks!

I put general sciences for Major, but doubt they'll pay much attention if the course is taken within the context of pre-reqs.

I went to Smith for my BA, but earned an AA at a separate institution between my sophomore and junior years (during a 2-year medical leave). I did not notice a degree option for AA, so I put "diploma" for now. Not worried at this point, but might email them in a few weeks.

I'm a bit disappointed there's no option to upload one's resume/CV. I think this may be a mistake, so I just emailed them to check.

I was also concerned about this too! I wasn't sure if they deliberately took this off or what. Please let me know what you find out.

It seems like they're taking care of the CV aspect with the "Experiences" part of the application...
