A little help would be appreciated

Ok, I'm sitting here on the w/e doing my wonderful yearly mandatories and I have come across something I need a little help with.

The question is "what common reaction is seen during a vanco infusion"?

Now, for the life of me I cannot say I have ever had too many problems with vanco- I mean I usually give it centrally. I do know that it can cause some redness at the site of a PIV- do you guys think that could be it?

The following question is "what steps would you take if this reaction occurs?"--- guess I need to know the first to come up with the second.

Whatyall think?

Thanks in advance!

And if redman's syndrome occurs (getting red all over), you should stop the infusion, and tell the physician, they may pre-medicate, the patient can still get the vanco, but it would have to be given over two hours instead of one.

No problem! Glad the newbie could help lol. My preceptor basically pounded that in my head, and when I was able to answer, I was like YAAAYYY I'm learning something, I actually know something. Lol, so thank you for posting and helping me realize that I do know something!
