yaya's or helpers in the country using our uniforms

Updated Jan 19, 2008 at 10:21 AM by dyan_gorgeous RN

I came fromsome mall last week, I saw a stall where they make this scrub uniforms for helpers! Huh?! how degrading!! Imagine, we are wearing our uniform like from work and we pass by to some malls and you will see those people with their helpers beside them wearing those scrubs and white uniforms! I hate it! My blood really boils everytime I see them! What's your insight about this?

i hate it too myself, i just dont want to discriminate though, so i try not to mind them. I hate the "amos" who require them to wear a uniform. i think we cannot do anything about the situation. Besides your able to distinguish which is which right?

Being a Yaya ( babysitters) or househelp is a job too. I don't see anything wrong with that? Only in the Philippines that people still wear whites as uniforms. if you go in other countries, you will see bellboys, hotel maids, massage therapist, and many others wears almost the same uniforms.I think I find it more professional, even if they are just housemaids, or Yaya, I wouldnt want my kids Yaya to wear raggidy clothes? I'd rather see them in nicely pressed white pants, and white top it doesnt bother me at all. by the way, In the US, a nurse does not wear all whites anymore, we wear scrubs. you can also see Nurse assistants, veterinarian, dental hygienist, PTs, OTs, wears scrubs, and don't forget, during Halloween parties, many people wears nurse uniforms ( some were tooo short), many wears Doctors, Nuns, Priest, and many other costumes, how about that?

hell, you haven't seen beauticians in scrubs yet! you want perm? hot oil? straightening?

not withstanding, nurses are not associated with scrubs. doctors, dentists, physical therapists, etc. nevertheless, THE CAP is the symbol of nurses, no one else can wear such.

i remember the time when the PNA raised holy hell when the "baywalk bodies" (a sexy girl group) used the nurse motif. but looking now you can see the ad for 'winrox' bleach: sexy dancers wearing sexy nurses motif(white uniform with exposed cleavage and a miniskirt-length skirt). i would have no qualms if that's all, but they are also wearing the NURSES' CAP while dancing to the tune of "taktak mo" (fil. lit trans.: shake it). now seeing that , suggesting that we are also good for promotion of bleaches MAKES MY BLOOD BOIL.

Last Halloween, I passed by the landlord's office to drop my check and the secretary asked me if I were dressing as a doctor. Nope, I am a real nurse, Halloween or not....
