Just don't limit yourselves to work as a caregiver and try not to make it your first option, albeit make it your last option i.e. apply as a caregiver only when all else fails. Just my $0.02.

I am a June 2008 passer. July 2008, I worked already as a contact center agent. After 1 year, I resigned and opted to pursue my nursing career. I went into MAN program. I am on my 24 units this second semester. Try to utilize well your time while awaiting for the hospitals to hire new nurses. I thought it was impossible to be called up by a hospital, however, a week after passing my resume and credentials, i got a text from my dream hospital that I was scheduled for an initial exam, to cut the story short, I was not able to proceed to the next step of application due to I need to go back to the province to take care of my Lola who is sick. I will just try my luck early this 2010. Do not lose hope. Having a profession like this is a blessing for everyone of us

I toltally agree.. Shouldn't lose hope. Ours is a great profession. Will push harder this 2010!! I really pray our efforts will be rewarded this coming year!

for any potential nurses in the Philipines; they crank out nurses for profit and export but no job guarantees. It's a risky situation all around. They train far more than they'll ever need. Nursing is one of the highest exports but new visa requirements don't make it a prudent decision unless you've got something lined up. In the USA, there's a job shortage and new visa requirements don't make these export setups worthwhile like they used to be....then there's the resentment from locals in job shortage areas if an imported foreign nurse appears when their friends born in that country are struggling for jobs.

I wish I had an answer. There are nurses looking for jobs in the US with experience who haven't found jobs for months, some for years now.

Hi..guys, I suggest that you should not take the NCLEX exam as of the moment! Because there's still a retrogression in US. There's a lot of RN's who graduated also in US are unemployed. I came across to this article that there's a large number of hospitals have stopped hiring new graduates altogether because of the training cost. I think retrogression tells about this article. Another thing is, there are full of new graduates and current students desperate to find work because no one is hiring. Some are even willing to relocate, but there is nowhere for them to go. My friend's cousin, RN and lives in Indiana has no job yet. You better think twice before putting yourself into unwanted results. Your right on cue i think NCLEX is not worth the INVESTMENT if you don't have a VISA yet.
