Unemployed nurse

I'm a nurse in profession but not yet in practice. I graduated last 2007 but until now i don't have a job. I have already passed my application to several hospitals but no hiring of staff nurses yet. I'm just worried coz I'm not getting any younger. Just want to know the status of other nurses. . .I'm having a bit of depression becoz of this.

Thanks!:=)

i suggest that for the meantime try training in hospitals like St Lukes Med Center, Makati Med., Phil heart center.. after the training you have the possibilty to be absorbed as a staff nurse..

you are not alone! i don't know if it helps any, but i just want to let you know that i get a bit depressed, too. i tried applying at hospitals, but it was futile. where i live, the hospitals have resorted to hiring only their own graduates. those who haven't are not hiring, and won't be hiring any time soon. they've got loads of apps stacked up in their HR offices. i applied for jobs related to nursing just for the sake of having an income, but even that seems a bit difficult.

i cheer myself up by acknowledging that i am not alone in this. and i don't blame myself for a lack of effort. keep on trying and pray for the best!

I graduated 2006 and still no job..How's that? But I just recently submitted my applications since i spent my time doing some non-nursing job.Anyway,I don't know if this will help but everytime I visit hospitals for follow ups,applications,etc., i try to dress up a bit(no sleeveless,no slippers) so hospital admin will remember me easily...Haha,I know it isn't much of help but I guess It's one way for them to easily recognize you.. I see a lot pf applicants just wearing slippers,provocative spaghetti strap tops when they visit hospitals..Im no admin or HR but IMO, its a job employment that you are there for so you have at least to the dress the part of a true professional .. Of course,it is still your board rating and scholastic records that weigh most but it won't hurt much to dress up,right?

Why dont you apply on the hospitals where your school affiliates? Are they full too? Gee... I dont know what to say... Just continue on your job hunting and time will come, you will have the work you really want.

God bless...

a lot of nurses here in the Philippines are having the same problem as you are. just like now, the june 2008 board exam has already been released, it only means that every unemployed nurses here has another 26,000 or more new rivals in getting a job. they say that government hospitals are under staff but whenever you try to apply, they would just tell you that there are no positions available.. *sigh*

oh well, i just wish the government will take a look at this issue.. i know that they're saying that nurses here just wanted to get an experience and immediately fly abroad.. can they blame us? if they could just give us a reason to stay here or work here for good like increasing the salary of all employees not just nurses, improving hospitals, more work opportunities, improving the quality of life here, lowering the prices of commodities and everything else.. *sigh* if only that could happen..
