St. Joseph Medical Center, Hiring nurses for UK.. Is This True?????

Updated Jan 08, 2009 at 06:45 AM by Silverdragon102

I got this from one of the threads in the phil. nursing forum about a month ago.. St. Joseph Medical Center, is now offering On The Job Training w/ salary, food allowance, etc.. Just send your resume to our email add. Source: Manila Bulletin. So I refered it to my friend who has just transferred to manila, who did just that. Now on monday she recieved a txt stating, You are selected for a nurse/caregiver position for UK, no placement, & processin, no salary deduction, check your email bulk or spam section at 1 pm today.

This is some excerpt from the email:

After more than one month of evaluation since we placed an advertisement on a leading newspaper, we are pleased to tell you that you are SELECTED for the position of a STAFF NURSE/CAREGIVER/HOSPITAL STAFF for LONDON .
You should attend the FIRST & LAST British English Training on January 10 & 11, 2008. .[size=2] Airfare, work permit & working visa will be shouldered by the employer, the only expenses that you are going to shoulder is the medical exam fee & training fee because this is on a DIRECT/NAME HIRE BASIS. Attend the 2-day British English Training, get the required certificate, orientation with the employer & signing of employment contract [size=2]

Do you believe this?? Has anyone tried this or has knowledge if such St. Joseph MC do really exist?? My friend tried to look in the directory if they are listed, but they didnt find it..
Looking forward for your feedbacks.. THANKS EVERYONE!!!

I have a few issues with this,

for a start I can not find any reference to a St. Joseph Medical Center in London, there is no mention of NMC and that it can take several months to go through the process and without the NMC you can not work as a nurse. London is the most expensive place in the UK to live and as a carer the pay will be basic so not sure how people are going to survive. Rent will be very expensive as will council tax etc.

I think this is something that needs to be investigated by contacting the local British embassy and check how accurate it is

ooohhh!! The nerve of some to people to resort to this kind of trickery and deceit just to get easy money, and to take advantage of us, filipino nurses. To think I was even the one who extended this info to my friend, I feel so embarrased.. getting her hopes up for nothing! Good thing she investigated it first and forwarded the email to me.. I immediately thought of putting it up here for I know answers will be given.
Thanks for your reply!! next time I'll be more careful and research on it first before I tell others bout it. Whew! my bad.. Makes you think.. "who else can you trust nowadays?"

Wow! And recently I received an email with the EXACT MESSAGE stating that they are HCA Hospitals HCA Recruitment! To make it worse, there really IS an existing website which could really fool you. (It almost fooled me and I almost paid the 3000 php!) Good thing they stated to make the transaction through G-CASH, and that blew it all.

Most unemployed nurses could have easily grabbed this too-good-to-be-true opportunity. And thanks to allnurses and google. They saved me my P3000.

@ mickeeey:

I think most of the nurses here in the Philippines have online resumes in jobstreet, jobsdb, etc. That's why they fall for the said email.

Yesterday, they texted me regarding my payment. They told me that I have until 5pm to pay for the amount, since there are only 3 slots left. Well, knowing that they are a scam, I replied, "Scam somebody else. If I pay you P3000, you'll just reschedule my training dates and I'll never hear from you again like what you you did to your previous victims, right? Oh, and I never knew Bristish people can use text speak."

Guess what, they didn't reply back! But the other day when I told them that I'm going to pay the P3000, they replied in less than a minute.

To all Filipino nurses who received an email from HCA Hospitals HCA Recruitment stating that YOU ARE SELECTED, it's a SCAM!

You're right Jeryl, they have the word SCAM written all over their "agency's" name. Being "selected" even though these nurses did not directly apply to them. How the hell would that even make sense, right? Do they just randomly select resumes on these websites and "select" the fortunate (or should I say unfortunate? hehe) one?

Also, anyone or anything that asks for payment before seeing the applicant in person nor before evaluating the requirements makes my "Scam! Beware!"-alarm go off. Even more so if they have their so-called "deadlines".

Tsk tsk. Don't let these evil people win! Spread the word and warn as many friends as you can.
