Re: Schools for 2nd coursers - BS Nursing
hi,
i need to know if anyone has heard of Philippine Paramedical and Technical School. it offers a 2-year ladderized program from LPN to ASN.But i and my classmates badly need a confirmation is it really accredited in the US.I mean, if i decide to continue this term, ill be earning my LPN degree this november and ASN July nextyear.and we are required to take a competency exam through Tesda and they say, if we pass the competency exam, that will make us eligible to apply for NCLEX. If what they are saying is indeed true and if we pass the NCLEX, and get a license, will that not have an issue with immigration? Can we work in the US? What visa, do you guys think we'll have?I am sorry, we badly need the answers. Thanks a lot!

This issue has been discussed so many times. Even if you can take the NCLEX with an ASN, you need a BSN if you need sponsorship for a green card. The only other option is get a green card first via other means like marriage then you can work there even with an ASN.

Re: Schools for 2nd coursers - BS Nursing
Hi. I really enjoyed reading your messages, guys.
I'm currently searching for schools in Manila and Quezon City that accept second coursers at the same time offers schedule that is convenient for those who are working.
I just want to share my observation with one of today's (Sunday) broadsheets. Since second semester is two or three weeks from now, schools advertise their courses being offered, one of which is BS Nursing.
Of all the ads, I noticed that only the Philippine College of Health and Sciences identified that they have evening and weekend classes. With this, studying nursing is really suitable on the part of those who are second courser especially those who are working 8-5.
I hope some schools with this kind of (night/weekend) program also advertise the way PCHS did.

hi there!! i understand that you have been reading the newspaper but am just wondering why you haven't read about the incident on the board exams which is still being discussed until now.. the owner of that school PCHS was allegedly the one who sold out on the board exams.. would you want to study in a school that would hinder your possibilities of getting a license and much more hinder you from working abroad? I am currently looking for a school since i stopped during my 3rd year summer duties for some reason.. i am planning to enroll at UDMC/Southeast Asian College.. I tried going to different schools to see which one would accept and consider even the minor subjects that i have taken already and so far its UDMC and Delos Santos who seems to be willing.. I chose to pursue my enrollment at UDMC since i already have a cousin studying there and it would be much easier for me to travel to that area.
@weebs21 - I suggest you look for other schools instead of PWU, that's where i studied before and based from my previous experiences and what i experienced just recently when i was getting a copy of my document, i can say that the school hasn't improved..it took me 4hours to finally get something out of them coz i think they lost my transcript.. I wouldn't suggest this school to anybody.. goodluck though if that's what you want.. you can try UDMC since i think they also have night classes..

The ADN is only accepted if you physically attended school in the US. You will not be able to get a green card with that degree from the Philippines, same as you cannot get a green card with the LPN license. Just being able to sit for an exam, does not give you the right to work in the US, and that is the omost important. Sorry, but do not believe a word that the school is telling you. | | No. 26 |

And then that is immigration fraud. And bigger problems.

Re: Schools for 2nd coursers - BS Nursing
Hi, choco_overload! Thanks for the info.
Actually I'm very aware of the issue especially the PCHS officials involved in the NBI investigation.
My only concern is that if there are other schools offering class schedules like the PCHS offers.
I checked Perpetual in Sampaloc. Yes, they have night classes but for the 3rd year subjects especially NCM, the school would ask you which will you prioritize: your job or your schooling. Their schedule for these (NCM) subjects, according to the person I had inquired with, is during WEEKDAYS, that is from 8 am to 5 pm.
Thanks again for the info. I'll inquire at UDMC one of these days.
