Re: Schools for 2nd coursers - BS Nursing
Anybody can advice?
I need an honest advice,If you're in my situation , what's the best decision ,I need to move right now 'cause of my age 47.(BSN RN '81,practiced my proffession 3years for long past years, after that I didn't practice nursing but contineously renewing my license up to now.I've been reciding for 19 years in Japan as permanent resident ,I have a caregiver certification since 2004 in japan but I didn' apply for it for some reason. Now I'm really confused, some adviced me to be back in nursing ,there's still as big chance but I really need to refresh my mind before taking Nclex or any nursing test;I'm planning to go to Phil. but what action should I do, is there a refresher course there or is the review conducted there enough to refresh my mind for the test?;If I go to Canada as caregiver first and then take their refresher there and take their RN test (cause they don't consider our license in Phil.)To go to another country from Japan as tourist is easier than from phil.but I'm confused ,really confused which is the best plan and way for me, Let's say a last decision to be carefully plan anybody can help? Thanks.

Where do you want to go? In the US refresher course is offered. Also hospitals won't take anybody who is license but did not practice for a ling time. They will send you first to a refresher class. It happened to my co worker. She is license but did not work as a nurse for 15 years. She was educated here in the US.So decide first where do you want to go.

I called MMFC yesterday and I found out that they have a 20 months program if you go to school everyday, and 24 months if you will do the weekend class. The program will start on October. If you are brave enough to study in Davao. Consider the bomb threat daily. Remember what happened 3 or 2 years ago at their airport. Bombs were also found at the Bus station in Ecolan. Is this worth it?I'm also looking for school that accepts second courser.I'm from Butuan city 4hrs bus trip to Davao but I'm chicken to go there every weekend. What if????I prefer to study in Cebu. This is just my opinion. You decide for your self.Keep me posted where you end up.Good luck!!!

Re: thanks
Dear Goldenrule, Its hard in the Philippines,But if you know somebody in the hospital it will be easier,Let's face it, in the Philippines, age discrimanation is okey it happened all the time and nobody has even tried to change it.Not even our famous politician!!!If I were you,I will not waste my time in the Philippines.Come to the US.Apply for a tourist visa but don't tell them that you are a nurse because it will give the idea that you are not coming back.Apply from Japan.Because in the Philippines the US embassy people treat us like mosquitoes, no value.Or you can go to the web site of the state where you plan to go and search for a nurse refresher class.Talk to them. Most of them are nice, they want your business.Good luck..Sorry for the delayed response.

Dont dwell too much with the past man, gotta move on....this will just hold you back. Do you know someone in Davao, ask them...I tell you, its not as serious as you think it is.....
