I used Saunders Comprehensive as a course outline and some supplemental reading from Nursing books. Saunders Comprehensive is good if your study time is so tight. And if your target is working in the US, then that book is good because the setting there is designed for US. Some clinical practices that are discussed in the book are not observe in the Philippine hospital setting. So beware.

Saunders is more on direct mush as a reviewer. I could suggest books I found helpful to me while I am studying but I am not sure if I can post it here. I'll PM it to you as soon as my PM is activated.

If your taking the local board (NLE) i suggest you use Udan's books. But if your taking NCLEX, use Saunder's & Suzanne's study guide. But if you are still a student, I suggest you have to read your textbooks. That way, the theories are more detailed and well explained. Anyway most nursing schools in the Phils. nowadays are using American textbooks.

i used the saunders book as part of my review for the local board. but i dont think its a good idea to use it for school because its comprehensive. you really need to have the nursing books, the thick ones.

Be aware that the meds are going to be different as well as lab values. We also have some different disease processes that are not even seen in your country. So most definitely do not use it solely for your classes, but only as a supplement.

Best of luck to you.

Suzanne is right. I also am a graduate in the Philippines, I haven't used the Saunders when I was reviewing for my Philippine Nursing Licensure. I just read it after I took the exam, and I found out I should've scanned it coz some of the questions are there too.. My cousin used it and she passed the exam there.. Good Luck to you!!=)
