Re: Saudi- MOH
Military hospitals in KSA accepts nurses without experience and the salary offerred is way up high than what you have mentioned ciara18. You were right in saying that most agencies won't offer a salary of more than SR 2,000 for a non-experienced nurses, but these are for private hospitals which can never equal what government hospitals can offer. A salary of SR 1,600 is OK for you but it all depends really on the person. My point is, if you do accept a salary of less than what I have mentioned, then you better be ready if you do come here. Prime commodities in KSA have increased. I will try to give you an example: 5 kg of rice is SR 30 (PHP 378), that's PHP 75 per kilo. We are buying our staple for 50% more than what it costs 2 years ago. Think about it.
k_jorel is concerned about safety. Yes k_jorel, female nurses are perfectly safe out here as long as you don't go around naked (just kidding). Really, it depends on how you define safety. Safety here for female nurses involves not going out without a chaperon, especially in Riyadh. There are cases here where women are abducted and raped if they ever go alone. As long as you follow the rules, you are safe.
Here's the main catch: most nurses who have worked in KSA do not really want to stay here for long. Some of them do stay. Others have gone to Canada, Australia, the US, and New Zealand because of the brighter prospects in these countries. If your main objective is this, then you won't mind a salary of SR 1,600 if you're still single, that is.
There's a chronic shortage of nurses here. Imagine a typical ratio of 1:15, but this is only my own conjecture. In my own experience, when I get home from a day's work, I'm dead tired, too tired to even eat. This is what I am experiencing right now. Not to mention that I'm studying for the IELTS, reviewing my textbooks, in-house training, and a lot of other stuff.
But I am encouraging you. All of you. If you do ever get here, don't waste your time in KSA.
Good luck and God speed.
