Re: Saudi- MOH
Hi! Goodluck to you Nikka! Once you submit your documents to POEA, they will forward it to Saudi Recruitment Office (SRO), then you have to wait for a call or notice within 2 to 4weeks for interview, exam, and completion of requirements. Then from the time you get sched at SRO, you'll be able to leave our country within 2months.
I agree that Saudi is the best training ground for new nurses because you would not just be an RN but also be the nurse aid (bathing, cleaning them after defecated), LPN and medical technician too (blood extraction) because medical technicians in saudi usually stays in their laboratory unlike here in the Philippines, they will come to the ward and extract blood for laboratory works. You'll be able to learn how to do ABG, mastery on suctioning, tube feedings, blood extractions even if your patients 4 extrimities is casted. hahahaha, Just have patience on them and take good care of yourself especially with your back when changing their bed linens and if you be assigned on male ward because some patient/watcher would try to take chance on you. Their hospital equipments are mostly new/upgraded/high technology, electrical beds, pulse oximeter, infusion pumps, suctions & oxygen is on their overhead wall just like in US, most unit/ward has their own standby Emergency cart. Just a reminder, never ever ever throw the empty ampule of narcotic on the container because you won't be able to go home and investigation will be done. It must be returned by the charge nurse to the pharmacy.
If you be assigned on the ward, you'll learn how to speak arabic fast. The first word you'll learn are "Yala Yala" (come, come), Sura (hurry up!). Kam?(how much), Akil (eat), Pulos (money) , Esh?(what?), Ana mafi malloom kalam Arabic (I do not know how to speak Arabic). hahahaha. Then just after few weeks staying in the ward, you'll already know how to communicate & defend yourself if needed.
Be observant!!! Avoid talking with males, always keep distance when talking to male patient or male watcher. And make it sure that your upper uniform should be close to knee level (not butt level) . You'll be working with Indian nurses, and different races like Pakistanis, Sri Lankan, doctors from Egypt, Romanian, Afghanist, Syrian, India, Etiopia, etc.. Just do your job very well and you'll be fine. If senior or other nurses would ask you to check on their patients or to do something, just make it sure that you have done your own assignments too.
Keep your money in your bank account, never lend it unless you know the person you dealing with because you have worked hard for it, be triffty so you'll see the fruit of your hardship at the end of your contract. Avoid buying too much fancy materials & in installment basis(imitated watches, camera, fancy jewelries) because you'll end up paying something every payday. Am I too strict and disciplinarian??? hahaha.
You'll be able to learn how to bake this and bake that, always baking and cooking. hahaha! Then have time for yourself, beautification than staring at the ceiling when bored though not even 1 lizard would pass by and not in the mood to watch tv on the dining room.
Sorry for the long message but I hope this would be a help. Again, take care, God Bless & Goodluck to you!
