is PN in US and here in the philippines just the same?

by hudaz

hi guys, my name is judah from the philippines and i am currently enrolled in one of practical nursing schools here. i was just wondering if the practical nursing here is just the same with the US??? i mean the curriculum, well we don't have local board exam here but they told us that for us to be able to work, we have to take the NCLEX-PN examination, but as i have sad, i am wondering if its the same course there in the united states.... practical nursing here is 2 years... i hope someone might help me on this...

thanks,
hudaz

hudaz.....by US law, only RN's who passed the NCLEX-RN exam are eligible for immigrant visas......a US hospital CAN NOT petition PN's for immigrant visa

im so frustrated that a computer school masquerading as a medical/nursing school is enticing filipino students to take up practical nursing (PN) but the fact is, a Practical Nurse can not be sponsored for immigrant visas in the US......

I think these schools are betting on a technicality--the last term for these students will be taken in the US, thereby making them "US graduates."

I wonder if they have successfully produced US RNs via this method.

it's risky, considering the costs are way too expensive for most people living here in the Philippines.

Even if the practical nurse graduates from a program in the US, they will not qualify for the green card, it must be RN after their name. Any other letters will not help them at all.

you mean it is not advisable to take up PN? what if after 1 sem you're going to shift it to RN, you think subjects will be credited? that school promises that they can take you abroad, they say that you will take your NCLEX abroad...??? my cousin was enrolled with this program, is she wasting time and money?

they can take the courses abroad? how much is it?

your cousin did not asked the "nursing" school if she could transfer her credits to a real nursing school?

my wife was a school physician in 2 of their campuses. she went to the head office 6 times but their excuse was that the cheque is not yet signed by the finance officer. the school paid her salary after 6 months and that was after i went with my wife with our lawyer friend we chanced upon a computer supplier who supplied them with computers and it took the school a year to finally settle all the bills. this school most probably is having liquidity (financial) problems and the only thing that makes them afloat is their strong connection with the government.....
