For any of you that have questions directed at working in the US, immigration questions, etc., please post them on the International forum, where all can participate in those. These types of questions are not limited to those from your country, but from all over the world. Plus, I am not the Moderator of this forum, and therefore do not always get a chance to see questions posted here to me.

I always look at the International forum, so if you need or want my input, please place it where I will see it.

Thanks in advance...................

hello! Ms. Suzanne my name is Maidy and I just want to get help from anyone who can help me and also to give a warning to anyone back in my country Philippines with regards to these nurse recruitment agencies.

My problem is about the muck that i am in now, I was a victim of an agency in Manila who promised all the perks such as free filing for ins, free immigration fees, medical exam, tse, toefl and nclex review and exam. trip to Hongkong for the nclex etc. and Yes, they fulfilled their promise for those things.

the thing is I was able to get here in the USA and obtain my green card but the catch is i am assigned to work for 13-18 patients in the med surg floor with different acuities and which is very unsafe and really tiring for a 12 hr shift even the $24.50 for an evening shift is a pittance to what other RN's are getting here. I am afraid each time I work for my patients and license.

Another thing is, they did not inform us that if patient census goes down we can be cancelled anytime and required to go back if census goes up. I dont know if this is legal here? how can we be able to pay for all our expenses if they keep on cancelling us and besides it was stated in our contract that we have to render full time and 40 hours /week. it would seem that they are breaking their own contract with us and not the other way around. I offered to buy out my contract which is for 12 thousand dollars and they said no problem but said they need to inform the INS with regards to my status even after paying the buy-out in short blackmailing me that I will be sent back home.

Although, I am grateful for being able to come here in the states at least they should have informed us back home of what to expect. they presented to us a very good scenario.

Does the Board of Nursing have a say on the nurse to patient ratio? and is this happening to other recruits? can anyone share their own nightmare? and lastly, is there a place here I can send my grievances?. thanks!!!

Please send me a pm with the name of the agency and which city and state that you are in. Then I can tell you what to do next.

Can you also e-mail me a copy of your contract?

And they are threatening you with telling you that they will inform immigration. You are already here legally with a permanent residency card in your hand. There is not one thing that immigration will do.

Personally, I would like to see any agency that operates like this put out of business and the officers not allowed to work in the recuriting business.
With a green card, you are not owned by anyone, but some agencies fail to see that. If you were under the H1-B visa, yes, they own you and could report things to immigration, but not with the green card. So what they are doing is illegal, and they deserve to be penalized for it.

Please also send me a copy of any of these e-mails or letters that they have documented this in.

Please send me the name of the agency and other relevant information. I'm in the process of writing an article about "bad nurse recruitment agencies" I'll include them in the article so our fellow nurses can avoid them.

I am an american Nurse who has friends in NYC Pinoy/Pinay RN who were recruited in MM. Some have not worked for 6 months, slept in the winter in un heated rooms and those that are paid are paid about 40% less than people like me. BEWARE. This agency refers to you as "those brown people" and exploit you. The RP Consul and PNA has decided to go after them with the NY attorney general and stop their recruiting in MM. MY ADVICE, BEFORE YOU SIGN A CONTRACT IN MM, ASK TO SPEAK TO AN AGENCY NURSE IN NYC IN TAGALOG IN PRIVATE.
A real agency would have no problem but this agency will not allow it.

i am a recently nurse graduate here in the philippines and successfully passed the local board exam and is currently reviewing online for NCLEX-RN with ERI.... i am sad with what the status of my "kababayan" there in the US is doing....

there is this agency called "nurses for the world"... does anybody heared about this???

and to ms. suzanne4... i decided to have my licensure in New Mexico and through endorsement/reciprocity, i can work in another state... i have heared that when you apply in new mexico you get your ATT for 3-4 weeks, i think... our review center recommended to us to apply for New Mexico for licensure... so we go for it... but we did not send the requirements yet... because we are in the process of requesting it in the school... etc.... is it right for us to go for new mexico and through endorsement/reciprocity we can work in nevada or texas... did we make the right decision of trusting our review center???

and another thing... is it recommended for a newly graduate, NCLEX-RN passer currently with no job experience in the hospitals here in the Phils. to work as a foreign RN there in the united states??? or it really depends on the hospital requirements or something like that?????

im really new at this going-abroad-to-work thing... so im sorry if i had many questions regarding this...

i would appreciate it if you can answer my questions??? thanks....
