Just a week ago, my friend received this letter from "University College London Hospital" saying that she is selected as a staff nurse in the said hospital. Using a public email address, it gives me doubts whether this is real or not. Good thing she didn't ate the bait. This serves as a warning to everyone who receives similar e-mail.

True that UCLH is looking for nurses, you can even check this site: http://www.uclh-jobs.co.uk/uclh/jobboard/ListJobs.aspx for details regarding vacancies and application. But in the process, you can see that they are using the company's e-mail, and not a public domain e-mail, giving it more malice.

I have seen too much inconsistencies regarding the email and similar emails located at these addresses. You might as well take a look for proof:

Here are things I observed that made this email "bogus"

1. "You should attend the FIRST & LAST British English Training on ______________."
- Similar e-mails state the same thing but on different dates. You might as well check out on the links above to believe

2. Using a public domain email address instead of the company email address
- UCLH have their own e-mail domain, so why bother using a public domain e-mail?

3. Landline nos saying "The number you have dialed is either unattended or out of coverage area???
when dialled?

- Globe Telecom should check on this one, who is the subscriber of these numbers (They might be using Globe's new promo - "Duo" making your mobile phone a landline)

4. "NO PLACEMENT FEE! NO PROCESSING FEE! NO SALARY DEDUCTION OPPORTUNITY! Airfare, work permit & working visa will be shouldered by the employer, the only expenses that you are going to shoulder is the medical exam fee & training fee because this is on a DIRECT/NAME HIRE BASIS"

- This has to be seen by POEA. Come to think of it, howcome they got HR's here without any permit or whatsoever. Even if you are a direct employer, you must possess these in order to acquire your purpose, that is to train and get nurses. And No SD's? are these people really willing to invest money for the applicant that badly?

5. Change of venue for their so called "training"?

6. Payments at SM Dept. Store, Tambunting, Villarica and even G-Cash for the P3,000 British English Training?

Please use our nursing skills in order to assess such "modus" and not be fooled by such promises. I know that we are facing a crisis now but we have to be patient, smart and a keen observer for these abusive and opportunistic people.

I would like to add this for proof that this email is a fraud. My friend had received an e-mail from UCLH Recruitment Service. I change my friend's name into X and hide her e-mail for privacy.

I am a registered nurse here in the Philippines. It was stated in the e-mail that it will be on an employer sponsorship, with all the details of the application process also indicated. I would just like to confirm if this is true, if you have an authorized Human Resources here in the Philippines. The e-mail was signed by Sir Nicholas Monck (non-executive director).

I consider this an opportunity of a lifetime. But I know that I should be well-informed with this matter.

I would appreciate your reply to this inquiry that I made.

This is one of a large number of FRAUDULENT e-mail sent to people in the Philippines, so as to extract from them P 3,000 for the supposed weekend training course they are told they need to attend. Do not send them any money. I am sorry to disappoint you, but I hope I have saved your money.

I tried searching for the sender of the mail but to no avail, it is hooked in some SPAM mail server, proving that the person/s who are sending these are good enough to hide their darkside.

I'm hoping that this will serve as an eye opener to those who are very eager to go abroad and to those opportunists who keeps on abusing their so-called "talents"

I believe that the only thing that we can do is to be observant with their applications..
