Been in Michigan since 1995. I left PGH in January of the same year. I started working there in 1992. I am currently a nurse practitioner for the intensivist group in the Cardio-thoracic Surgical ICU at a hospital in Detroit, Michigan. I live in the suburbs which is kind of the typical arrangement for Pinoys in this area. Can't say I love the weather here in Michigan but I have made many lasting relationships with people I consider family here, not to mention the real family I have. I may relocate somewhere warmer in maybe two years, who knows...

Hi PinoyNP, I also worked in NSSCU from 1988-2000 and I am very proud to be part of this unit. I learned a lot during my years of stay there and I will always cherish the memories that I had when I was there. I moved here to UK 8 years ago and luckily, still working in Neurosurgical ICU here in Sussex and my experience helped me a lot. I am sure we know each other.

Panel Interview

I'm scheduled for a panel interview this Feb 2009.

Anyone here working / know someone who is working at UP-PGH as a nurse and the like?
How's the Panel Interview?

What are the things that I should keep in mind before and during the interview?
What preparations are needed to pass the panel interview?

Please enlighten me, anyone? Thank you very much.
Happy Holidays!

Panel interview eh? Gosh, mine was in 1992 so that's a long time ago. I remember the Assistant Director for Nursing, the Chief Nurse from the Division of Nursing Education and Training, a few of the Rotating Chief Nurses, and the President of the PGH Nurses Association or something like that were present. Basically, a bunch of old nurses gathered around me, a new grad. Just dress smart and act smart without sounding too cocky. If the question is in English, answer in straight English and pay attention to your grammar.

I don't remember any technical questions or nursing questions aside from being asked where I graduated from. I remember the usual "tell me about yourself" and "what are your future plans?". PGH mandates that each hired nurse keeps the 2-year employment commitment prior to leaving for any reason during that time and this was definitely stressed during the interview.

hi!

i've worked in PGH ER from 2004 to 2007. i must say it has really help me a lot, especially in my skills and knowledge, since its my first job right after passing the board.

PGH is hiring non-stop,especially now that there are many nurses resigning who are going to Saudi, UAE, Canada, UK n US. You just have to submit the needed requirements then pass the wriiten exam and interview.

Hi Tobby Water,

You can visit PGH website and go to the Oppurtunities then click Nursing service for all the informations and requirements that you may want to know if you want to apply or call them personally . I worked there for 13.5 years in one of the ICUs there and I am very proud to say that I really learned a lot from this instutuion. So go for it and ring them to inquire. Goodluck!
