You are aware that there's only a minimal chance for you to be able to work in the US?

You definitely should improve English before taking up Nursing in the Philippines. All of the instruction is done in English and if your English is weak then your understanding of the subject will be weak.
I can tell from your grammar and sentence structure above that you have a fair grasp of the basics and that may get you by in some places but you have to also understand that Philippine English is different from American English. So unless you have a strong command of the English Language, the ability to comprehend each versions of English equally could be a problem.

When choosing a nursing school I would suggest that you look at the numbers from PRC in the Philippines and see the schools which rank the highest in passing rates for the local boards. Also, make sure the school is accepted in Vietnam because you will need to pass local boards there in order to process your application for licensure in the USA.

Doubt it will work like that. You will more than likely start from the beginning again with the US university. So a lot will depend on where in the US and the university

If you can afford US nursing school, I suggest you go for it. A lot of universities also offer English courses. I would also suggest going to nursing school in Australia or New Zealand and then work there. I know you also have that American dream but US is in recession right now and there is retrogression in visas. You will likely have to wait for more than 5 years after you graduate to come to the US. Well, thats with the current immigration laws. You see, there is a cap or limit to the number of visas that they issue every year and there is just too much demand than supply. Right now, they are catering to immigrant visa petitions way back in the year 2002/2001 depending from what country you are.

Also look for countries that have a Vietnamese community. I know US has quite a numer of Vietnamese communities. Im not sure for Australia and New Zealand thou. Your people will help you alot in transitioning to the new place. You need support for basic things such as transportation, where to go for groceries, where the Asian store is, etc, plus they can help you with the language too.

So my best advice is, go to nursing school in Australia or New Zealand, have working experience there, then if you still want to come to US in the future when the economy pics up and they have fixed their immigration laws, you can always come here and you will be very marketable here having Ausie or New Zealand nusing education and work experience. If by that time, US is still a mess, then at least you are working in Australia or New Zealand. You could also go to Canada =)

I agree with SilverDragon. I had a neighbor who is on a Bachelor of Science in Nursing program in Cebu, Philippines. When her mom got a job in the US, she got a dependent visa and was able to leave with her. Now, she is back to square one in Nursing at Rhode Islands. Though her minor subjects got credited, she needs to redo the the major subjects. So, from being a 3rd year BSN student in the Philippines, she's starting as a 1st year BSN student now at Rhode Island.

If your goal is to learn English, then I suggest going to nursing school in a place where English is the dominant language period. The US will be hard to work at considering that we have many people who have been waiting almost 10 years at the chance to obtain a visa to work here.

Are you in Vietman right now? If you are, you're in a very similar situation as Cubans. You can certainly apply to nursing schools in the USA but keep in mind that you will have a hard time staying here after graduation. You can get a student visa, but after you graduate you have a certain amount of time to go home and there's no possible way to adjust your status. But again, since you're Vietnamese it might be different. Speak to an immigration lawyer about your options. You may also look at going to school in other English speaking countries like Australia, the UK, New Zealand, or Canada. But as the other posted stated, you really need to brush up on your English skills because from what I can see, I honestly don't think you will be able to pass the basic English exams that most are having to take before taking their NCLEX. Good Luck.

SilverDragon is right. While the Philippine nursing schools are accredited and the degrees are accepted in the USA; the course structure is different. Therefore transferring mid-way through your BSN is going to be nearly impossible.

Sounds to me like you need to seriously think about what your plans are long-term and start goal-setting in a more proper way.

Remember:

There is a clear path to success: 1) Make a specific goal 2) Plan decisions that relate to that goal 3) Take action on those decisions

More importantly: There are no shortcuts to Success

You may have heard of this trick or that trick but when it comes down to the wire you have to do everything completely. No shortcuts, no half-measures.
