Nurse given Visa but...

Hello all,

I'm a newbie here from the Philippines hoping to get some suggestions on what to do with my problem. I just received my visa (immigrant) a few weeks ago, but my problem is that my employer told me to just wait as they have issues with the embassy here in the Philippines because of some misunderstandings regarding the status of my employer. They told me to wait until all the issues have cleared up. My dilemma is that what if our visas expire before they've been able to clear up their name with the US Embassy. Will they let it just expire after all the time and money they've spent to arrange my papers? What if I decided to go to US without having to wait for their word? Will I be denied of entry? Please help me. I'm really worried about the whole process. It's not my fault that my employer got into this mess. Help me please.

what is the name of your petitioner (employer)? what state is it? I have a colleague of your same case, there was a problem with the embassy and the employer.

Do you have relatives in US, you have your visa and you are good to go, if your employer have some issues with the US embassy, i dont think they will grant you a US visa. they would have addressed the issue when they interviewed you in the Embassy. Call the Embassy, get their opinion on this.

thanks a lot MOBITZ for the reply. I do have relatives in the US and my visa is an immigrant visa. In our case, our visa was approved before the whole problem surfaced. Now, we are too afraid to call the US embassy fearing to hear that our visa will be cancelled.

I am sure that the US embassy is just protecting your interest, I am just wondering what your employer did to make the embassy react that way. I have to admit this is way out of my league, seeking the help of a professional will probably be a better option.

As far as I know, before the embassy granted us the visa, they review our contract beforehand, to make sure that foreign worker's like us are protected. That we get the same benefits our american counterparts gets.

I have this gut-feel that your employer/agency is just trying to hold your travel for a while for some reasons. One reason maybe is that they have no available job for you at the moment and once you're there, they have to provide you with what's written in your contract.
