Masterals Scholarship in US - is it good?

Have you heard of Global Scholarship Alliance (GSA) work-study program operated by an agency called Health Carousel? They offer a fully funded MSN scholarship at an accredited American university, paid practical training as a nurse at an on-campus hospital to cover living expenses, paid airfare to America, two months of paid housing, new laptop computer, resettlement stipend.

They say they are not affected by retrogression because they are offering student visas. Is this any good? Is there anybody out there who has availed of this scholarship? What are your feedbacks regarding this program?

I work for an American Hospital that was approached by Global Scholarship Alliance to "host" some of its recruits. I even met with the guy to gather more information about it. In the end, my hospital decided not to get involved ... but I DID start a thread here similar to this one asking if people had any info on the company or experience with them. If you do a search of this site, you might find that old thread and be able to see the responses.

Good luck to you.

http://allnurses.com/pre-crna-inquir...ce-249577.html is the thread, read for yourself.

GSA can not offer visas.

Thanks! I read the thread and had second thoughts about the program. I hope to hear from people who actually became "scholars" of GSA. I want to know if it really is what it says to be and what the catch is...

The fact they don't have former grads telling there stories is a sign. Sounds like you made a good decision.

yeah good point to ponder..

i am one of their scholars.....i was supposed to leave dec 18, 2008 but some problems occured in the hospital where i was supposed to land (EJGH, Louisiana, USA)...just this morning I made a follow up with the agency and yet they're still updated regarding my application...pending final interview of another hospital (this time in TEXAS), i have already acted on my plan B though...i have my application submitted to QLD, OZ...whichever comes first is my only consideration in this difficult time of getting into the "greener pasture"....i' getting depressed sometimes...but there's no way giving up....i leave everything up to God as much as I have done my part...

going back to GSA, i have chat mates who are in NY rt nw at mercy college for the masteral and at the same time working part time at the hospital...i noticed they are silent about the financial aspect but the pictures are great...in my case my considerations are: il get my ssn so i can have my license secured, the MSN degree, the experience, the English fluency, salary although only of part time would surely be greater than what I get here in the hospital im working in cebu.

Thanks for sharing your situation! Right now I'm considering other options. I doubt I can save enough money from that program. Anyway, good luck on your plans! I'm sure you'll make it.

Remember that even though you may get a student visa that it limits you to Co-op employment which means limited hours and small income. There is no guarantee that you will be able to have an immigrant visa or employment visa by the time your education is completed. Nobody can promise that.

I know an immigration attorney who is dealing with situations like this.. the nurse is promised a lot of stuff and then they never get it because the agencies still have to struggle through retrogression just like anyone else.

The plus side? You learn more, get to live in the USA and have a shot at completing an immigration visa while you are doing it.

IF your family can afford to help you through the process it is a good idea, but don't put money into it that you cannot afford in the hopes of a job at the end because that might not happen.
