nope there are other training that do not require BST provided you have at least a minimum of 1 year hospital experience.

i'll be starting my training at the Lung Center of the Philippines on June 15. I registered and completed all requirements last week. Aside from the 6,000 training fee, I paid 300 for the CXR, 300 for the PPD, 150 for the Lung Center T-shirt (required!), and 340 for the scrub suit (with name ebroidered. required!).

First Aid Re: Lung Center of the Philippines: Basic Skills Training
@nurseHarbee -- actually, i dont have any 'connection' inside. i just walked in the training office a week and a half ago and presented all the requirements. then they said that if my performance is very good, being hired is possible. they're actually very nice to me. the last time i was there, they had us choose sizes for our scrub suits that we'll be using for our assigned areas. i think there are 50 nurses per batch. the downside to this is spending a lot of money without the assurance that you'll be hired. bright side? while looking or waiting for a 'real' job, through these trainings we can keep ourselves busy and gain as much knowledge and skills we can use.

@cathybedrio -- i think the cut-off was last week. maybe they will accept you for the next batch of trainees (september '09). i suggest you call first before you go there. (02)9246101 local 270. volunteering is also good if the hospital you're aiming for is reputable, or one that is known to give good training.

anyway, if some of you have any more questions regarding the training, please leave me a message
