help!

hi! im an aspiring nurse. im an upcoming BSC_marketing graduate and would like to take a secondaty course which is nursing. is it better if i take the asdn course since i already earned a bchelors degree though not an allied course? bsn here in the philippines usually takes 2-3 years for second courser and i need a fast track course as soon as possible to be able to work abroad esp. US

go and check with pamantasan ng lungsod ng makati.. they have a great program for second coursers and it would only take you two years to finish... goodluck..

For I know, there is no school that's offering ASDN for second courser. ASDN is the preparatory course for BSNursing course that is offered in some school. It's the degree after "capping and pinning" ceremony or at the end of Sophomore year.

If you want to work in the US, you must take BSN that you could finish in at least 2 years because it is one of the requirement for CGFNS Visa Screen.

Just search around, there's already a thread regarding 2ndCourser and school offering BSN. Good Luck.

there's one school here in manila that offers associate degree in nursing and they said that The graduates of this program are eligible to sit for the NCLEX-RN exam for state licensure. Courses in the Two Year degree can be applied toward the requirements for a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at a fourth-year institution. The Program has full approval status by the Nevada state board of Nursing, and is accredited by the National League for Nursing accrediting commission. this school is st. jude college in manila. what do u think?

who's "they"? can you ask them if "they" are ALL working here in the United States? if you are from the Philippines, the safest route is to take your BSN.
just for your information, having a BSN is required for VisaScreen application.period. If you are a second courser, then you don't need a full 4 year in nursing. some of your classes will, or may be credited. so you might be able to finish your BSN within maybe 2-3 years. Yes, The program you are talking maybe approved by Nevada state board of nursing, but you need to remember, getting in Nevada or any part of USA needs Visa Screen. and pls. don't take the easy route? you will lose out at the end...Nursing profession is sooo hard, yet many people forget that. You can find a lot of schools who accepts second coursers, you just need to find a good one that will meet your needs..Goodluck to you.

Warning: Licesnure requirements are not the same as immigration requirements. Same way that you see LPN programs there, they advertise that the nurse meets the requirements to sit for the NCLEX-PN exam, and they can. But, you cannot get a visa to work with that degree in the US. Immigration requires that it be the BSN. Unless you already hold a green card, or are a US citizen, this program will not work for you.

Please take the time to do some reading here about these programs. That program may be approved in all 50 states, but you need a visa to be able to work in the US legally, and with that degree, it is not going to happen.

Anytime that anyone tries to take a shortcut, it turns around and bites them.

well i was just wonderin to take an LPN course here in the philippines and then apply as a caregiver in canada or US. will it be possible for me to work abroad? i am really desperate to work abroad.. i really need a fast track course for me to get there.

Get your BSN degree---that’s the best way to do it. But if you want to enroll in an LPN program or a caregiver program, sure, it is also your free will. But remember, LPNs cannot qualify for a green card and there are lots of caregiver schools that are not legitimate so you better be discerning before shelling out money and exerting time and effort to those programs.
