actually as of the moment, we aren't on clinical practicum yet.we were told that come august it will start.well didactic part just ended today, so far its good and the resource speaker is really well versed, he is a chief nurse in Kansas. He discussed much about critical care nursing. PLUS he even asked for NCLEX passers whom he will hire in the institution he is currently working in.

To answer your question regarding the procedures, can't tell you yet but based on the orientation for clinical practicum they gave us today, so long that you will ask your preceptor for assistance in procedures you haven't done yet, all procedures nurse is allowed to do then we can do..

Sure thing I'll keep you posted! Godbless!
I am really excited this will be my first experience ever after graduation. Nervous at the same time though

Hello! Training in Lung Center for three months costs 6,000 pesos. At the Kidney Institute i think it is more than 8 thousand, not so sure.

hello shubii!well yeah its been all busy days this past weeks!so far exposure is good but ill tell you it will depend on which ward you'll be assigned but yeah it's still a very good experience.

my first month am assigned at MS ward, so its all carrying out docs order and some basic procvedures.....its a gradual learning process because i was first assigned at private division then now at charity division where a higher census is expected..decision making and time management is a must superb thing to learn.

my second month which is by next week I'll be assigned at critical care unit. I heard from others who had been there already, i quote "super lot of things to learn"...ill continue this after the exposure.

i am not sure but september you might want to follow up already because our training will end by then so theyl probably open slots again.

ill post it soonessstt once i hear from the nursing service..
Godbless you too.. Thankyou

Hello shubichilipepper! I am also undergoing the training at the ust hospital and I'm telling you, it's all worth it! I was first rotated in the cardiovascular unit for 1 week, critical care unit in the 2nd week and surgical intensive care unit in my 3rd wk. I can't believe I have learned so much in a span of 3 weeks. Almost all of the patients are mechanically ventilated and we are assigned 2-3 patients per trainee. Cases include MI, CVA, post craniectomy, Guillan Barre, post ptca, patients an many others. At first I wanted to quit due to information overload but as time passes by, I get used to it and I feel like I don't want to leave the critical care unit. I want to be assigned there forever! Right now, I am already assigned in the private division ward... and I'm already missing the thrill and excitement in providing overall patient care in the intensive care units. I love the being an intensive care unit nurse. I've already found which area I belong...yey! I hope you could also apply to their training, it's worth your while

Those people who are also wanted to try or even those who are hopeful to enter to some institution who are offering some training were also benefited by your kindness and unselfishness to share some inputs and valuable experiences.
