Palace orders PRC to suspend nurses’ oath-taking

MALACAÑANG has ordered the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) to suspend administering the oath to new nurses after the Court of Appeals ruled a “selective retake” on the June licensure exams.

Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita said the court decision would become final and executory only 15 days after it has been received by the PRC.

. . .

"While the Court of Appeals decision was handed down October 13, it has not been served yet to PRC, and even if it has been served it would take another 15 days to become final and executory, so DoLE thought it prudent to instruct PRC not to administer the oath today [Monday]," Ermita said in a news briefing Monday.

Ermita also said that the National Bureau of Investigation has been asked to submit to DoLE a list of those who enrolled in the review centers of Gapuz, Inress, and Pentagon so that this could be matched with the list of those who passed.

. . .

Amid the investigation, Ermita said the 1,687 students whom the court had ordered to retake tests 3 and 5, where the alleged leaked questions came from, could go higher.

"We are trying to identify who attended the last session in these three review centers who may have passed and therefore if it is determined that they are not yet in that 1,687 then they will also be ordered to retake only on tests 3 and 5," Ermita said.

how can they tell if a student who attended the three concerned review center indeed attended the final session? even if the student enrolled in the final coaching (which is a week or so before the exams), they is no proof that they indeed present during the final session....

Unless it is a retake of the entire exam, it will not matter to the authorities in the US.

And as I keep saying, the news changes daily. PRC has no credibility anywhere right now, they just keep digging their own holes deeper and deeper. Wonder how deep that the tunnels need to get?

And there are those that think that NCLEX exam should be held in Manila...................what were they thinking? More trouble that can be sure, if they cannot even handle their own exam without these issues, how can they expect to hold a foreign licensing exam?

a subpoena for the Registration List.

maybe reviewees on the Registration List can petition that the Attendance List be used as the basis, if they really did not attend the Final Coaching...but this is doubtful.

res ipsa loquitor.

why pay thousands of pesos if you're not going to attend the Final Coaching?

Palace halts PRC oath-taking; nursing exam passers stunned

As this developed, the Palace also ordered the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to immediately submit the list of nursing students who enrolled with review center supposedly involved in the exam leakage.

Ermita gave the NBI Anti-Fraud and Computer Crimes Division until Friday to complete and submit to Brion the list of students who registered with the Inress, Gapuz and Pentagon review centers.

"The NBI report has said that it was possible to identify those who reviewed in these review centers and therefore DOLE (Department of Labor and Employment) now will get the list of those reviewees and match it with the list of those who passed and be able to determine who should be ordered to have a retake," Ermita said.

anyway, I think Suzanne has the correct perspective on things.

since the goal of these nurses is to work in the US (among other places), our nurses should comply with the US certifying organization's standards.

Default another interpretation of the CA ruling
amazing how different news agencies can have different interpretations of the same CA ruling.

4 top nursing schools defend filing of motion

The Court of Appeals on Friday ruled that those who passed the board exam conducted outside of Manila and Baguio and those who had registered for but did not attend the “final coaching” sessions at three review centers found to have leaked test questions could take their oath as nurses.

as much as i want the testing site here, im thinking twice now. we really cant trust these people running our government. they all have their own agenda. it's all just about themselves, not for the people... sad to say that this is one thing i'm most ashamed of about the philippines

I'm glad that you understand the situation and how it came about.

It should be apparent by now to those who took the recent NLE that everything was mishandled by the PRC.

Who is toying w/ the emotions of these nurses? It is not the politicians, the DOLE sec., or anyone else. Yes, some politicians were grandstanding as expected but they were not toying w/ the emotions of the nurses as they know deep inside them that whatever they say have no bearings whatsoever and that it is all just chatter and publicity.

That scene last Oct. 13 when the Chairperson was about to announce that the oath taking would not push through says it all. She was walking and smiling and greeting the nurses present there as if if she has a wonderful anouncement but suddenly announces that the oath taking will not push through. You can just imagine what the nurses their felt. And she was saying that it was ordered by the Sec. of DOLE eventhough she made a grave mistake again of impulsively (intentional or not) putting the list out to the public.

This is the same scenario from the very beginning. It was agreed upon by the original stakeholders that they will wait for the investigations of the NBI before posting any list of passers. They did not abide by it and prematurely posted the list of passers w/o knowing who possibly benefited or not. This is the reason why it took so long in the 1st place. Then the 2nd mistake (again intentionally or not) is the very sudden announcement of oath-taking the moment they heard that their will be a TRO coming.

For me, it is obvious that someone is trying to hide something or save herself from the controversies. I do not know why these weren't noticed by the nurses. These maybe because of the emotions that already came in to play as expected when the 1st list of passers was prematurely posted.

I think by now it should be apparent who was really toying w/ the nurse's emotions. Please spare those personalities that wants a re-take. It is their job. They are just doing their job. Some of you may disagree w/ them but nonetheless it is their job and they are doing it. Do not mind the other politicians they are just after publicity and the know that in the end it still the stakeholders involved who wil decide. I cannot say the same for the PRC. I personally think they mishandled everything to say the least or purposely doing what they are currently doing to save themselves.

The above comments are just my personal observations.
