I gathered from those who just arrived that processing time from the Philippines is now just 3 to 5 days. And as long as your school is in the list of recognized institution and your funds is PHP600k, one is granted a student visa. Just for the info of those interested, getting a placement provider is getting to be more difficult because there are now many from Poland and India who are here under the NVQ in Health & Social Care program as well.

@ nurseinuk - yup, the British Embassy speed up the process. I applied for my visa last Oct 16 and regrettably, it was denied since i only furnished a Certified True Copy of my BankBook (its a joint account so i cant leave the original at the embass). I've requested for an administrative review since the lawyer of ISA said that the CTR is as good as the original.
When i went to ISA's office in Makati last Oct 14), I met a number of applicants who are still waiting for their placement providers before they can leave, although they already have their visas approved (some, last September pa).

@ nursrinuk - have you heard about "E-care"? My agency, ISA, said that Ecare is their partner for our work placement (they will be the one who will find us a work placement)

Ladygie, I also just submitted xerox copies of my parents bank book and time deposit. My agent jsut instructed me to have it stamped certified true and correct in each page by the bank manager. Then, my agent told me to get a Bank Certificate attesting to the amount in the xerox pages.

Ladygie, that is very sad to know that there are those who were approved Sept. yet and up to now are still waiting for a placement provider. Many of those I have met here told me that they borrowed money just to come and they pay interest a month. Imagine the case of those who were approved Sept. yet ,who borrowed money. The "clock is ticking" so to speak, every minute. It makes me think that applying in a smaller but reputable agency is much better than going into one who has so much applicants.

Been here in UK for almost 2 yrs and my visa is nearly on expiration. Applied to ISA and taking BSc (Hons) Health and Social Care, when I went to the university last September for my study I got the chanced together with my classmates to asked the school administrators what will we gonna gain after the study, they told us that we are not qualified to any job.
In my case, they implemented the 37.5 hrs/wk of work last month which is not enough to support my self and pay the debts I had. Gonna received a gross of around P70,000 but need to pay the room rent (nearly P23,000), tax ( nearly P9,000), national insurance (nearly P5,500), plus food expenses, transportation going to work and school, etc. The cost of living here is very expensive.
No plans of renewing or extending my visa. Got better opportunities in other country.
Think first before you apply.

If I were you I won't come here. You are only allowed to work 37.5 hrs a wk which is not good unlike before students from ISA were allowed to do as many hours as we can. I applied to ISA as well and currently here in UK.

i just applied at ISA with their NVQ course and i already gave the tuition fee. i'd like to ask which work placement where you assigned and is it hard to look for part time jobs which pay cash basis? would it be ok if i get your email address and email you if i have some questions abt the student visa?

The student visa only allows certain hours of paid work. Looking for part time work that pays by cash is looking to work illegally and at risk of being caught and loosing your student visa.
